Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [281]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’ll be spending my Sunday night in bed with A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee. I’m a bit behind on starting this but it’s the next Owlcrate buddy read book for our little group! I actually have no idea what this is about other than it’s a dark academia? Might be a little outside of my comfort zone? I don’t know. Let’s see! 😂

What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

This week was just about like every other except for one significant change: I joined a gym. I’ve been thinking about it for a while because I’ve been feeling increasingly unfit/unhealthy and I’m kind of tired of feeling tired, you know? I finally landed on an option that I was comfortable with and that leaves me very little room for excuses because it’s literally a few steps away. My office building is right next to a hotel and so I joined the hotel gym and pool. It’s definitely more expensive but I get exactly what I want: a “quiet” gym that doesn’t make me feel intimidated and overwhelmed. I went three times last week and most of the time there’s only been 2 or 3 others in there and that’s how I like it! 😂

I’m not going wild on the workouts but I’m trying out the 12-3-30 treadmill routine because at this moment, I need to simply get myself through the doors and slowly build some kind of enthusiasm for being there. I’m the laziest creature you will ever meet and I have a knack for very easily talking myself out of anything, so I’m dealing in baby steps. I just want to live with less pain and I’m hoping this will help! ✨

One of the delights I discovered since going to the gym is that I’m able to power through chunks of audiobooks while I’m in there and I love it! 🤩 I finished two books this past week because of it and I’m excited to see how many more I can read while I get my workout in. I’ve got tons of audiobooks that have piled up over the years and I think I’m going to start slowly working my way through them now. It’s very exciting!

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

boa sorte / good luck – vanessa de mata x ben harper

I hope everyone’s doing well and treating themselves with care. Have a great week ahead, friends! 💜

  1. This is the first I’ve heard of A LESSON IN VENGEANCE…I hope you like it! And good on you for prioritizing your fitness. I am right there with you on the hardest part being getting your foot in the door. I’ve been taken out of my routine due to some personal life things and it’s been so hard to motivate myself to get back into it; it’s part of the reason I’ve started going to ballet twice a week because I pay for it, therefore I’ll go, lol.

    • Ooh, really?! Well, it was released a few years ago and I don’t think it hit the way a lot of people though it would and I think the hype died down pretty quickly. I’m really not far into it yet. There’s some mystery of course and sometimes I forget how pretentious the kids in these prestigious schools in dark academia can be but so far, it’s OK, lol. The motivation and not listening to myself when I readily make excuses to not go to the gym are the two things I have to work hardest on all the time, lol. I hope that you can find the motivation again 🙂 It’s always tough after taking a break but it sounds like ballet is something you enjoy (and you pay for it, lol) so I hope you continue to have fun doing it!

  2. Good for you, Dini! It’s great that you joined a gym and smart to choose one near your work. It’s nice that’s it has not been crowded. And, well, getting to improve your health while getting through a few books is a bonus.

    • Thanks, Sam! I think I’m just really hopeful about it helping me with my chronic pains and I know a lot of that has to do with being way too unhealthy. 🫣 I went today (Monday) and it was probably the most crowded it has been since I’ve started going. Thank goodness they actually added another treadmill otherwise I would’ve had to find something else to do! 😂

  3. I’m a lazy creature too Dini but I have to do at least 3 days of cardio because I’m in perimenopause and weight gain is no joke. I feel like I sniff food and gain weight! But I have to actually change my diet and trying to motivate to start that TOMORROW so I totally relate and the idea of a gym at the hotel actually sounds really nice! And bonus on using audiobooks during your workouts. I read A Lesson in Vengeance when it came out because I had the arc so I don’t remember much but my blog post of it says for the most part I did enjoy it and gave it 3.5 stars. 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 I hope you like it!

    • Yeah, I have not been taking very good care of my health for years and years, and now I think I’m really starting to feel the effect of that, especially in my knees and lower back (and I’m only turning 40 in a few years)… I hate that I’m so lazy and that it takes so much to motivate me and to stop myself from making excuses! 🫣 I hope that this establishes a routine for me and I keep going! Good luck with the change in routine! I think we just have to keep steady and give ourselves grace when we need it and do what works best for us to achieve what we want healthwise… WE GOT THIS, YOLANDA!! 🙌🏽

  4. I relate hard to what you shared about the gym. I joined one in september and barely utilized it because it’s alwayus full, I get easily intimidated and overwhelmed, and I will gladly talk myself out of going. The only way it’s been sticking so far is becuase I convinced my girlfriend to join with me

    • It’s awesome that you have someone to go with! I think if I had someone to go with it might be less intimidating, especially if we were on the same level of the fitness journey, or as long as whoever I’m going helps to ease my anxiety. But yeah, gyms can be so overwhelming and people can be so intimidating. I’m glad that I found this hotel gym and I don’t even know why I didn’t even think about it before as an option, haha.

  5. So, I’m reading this almost 2 weeks after you posted, and wondering if you are still enjoying your workouts. I wish joining a gym in a hotel where there weren’t a lot of people was an option here. That sounds wonderful. I would be in the pool everyday though. I hope you are getting lots of time to listen to those audiobooks you have hanging around, Dini.
