#WWWWednesday: 23 April 2025

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Have we come to another Wednesday already? It’s been another slow reading week over here and since last Wednesday I’ve finished 2 books. This is in part thanks to gaming but also, my brain is tired and can’t seem to process anything. 🙃

Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave ★★★★☆
Despite how messy this family is, I ended up really enjoying this book and may even have shed a few (okay, more than a few) tears by the end. Dave does a good job capturing just how messy people can be and how we might not always make the best decisions for ourselves, but at the end of the day we learn, we grow, and (mostly) we find hope and happiness again.

Unlocked (Turner #1.5) by Courtney Milan ★★★★☆
This is an excellent enemies-to-lovers histrom novella that is truly enemies-to-lovers, and I have the Fated Mates podcast to thank for the recommendation! Elaine has a great reason to hate Ethan and what seemed like an impossible romance worked out very nicely. It was angsty, swoony, and sexy, and I would highly recommend it!

  • One by One25% ⇢ I haven’t picked this back up since last week. I don’t know what I’m waiting for!
  • Project Hail Mary41% ⇢ This was one my top priorities for 2025 so I’m glad I picked it up. It’s starting off a bit… Slow? I forgot I had the audiobook and so I just put that on coming home from work but I’m not sure I’m enjoying the narrator. 🤔 I think I just need to keep going with it!
  • How Zelda Married Death12% ⇢ I think I first saw this on Becky’s blog and I thought “ooh, that sounds interesting and not just because I’m obsessed with the game!” When I saw it on KU and realised it fit two challenge prompts, I scooped it up and now it’s my “evening read”. It’s… Odd. Quite quirky. Not sure about the writing style but… let’s see! It’s a novella so it shouldn’t take me more than 2 nights to read (if I can focus)!

I’ll be starting my next buddy read with Leslie for A Closed and Common Orbit on Friday. We’re both very excited to dive into this second book in Chambers’ Wayfarers series cos we loved the first book!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!
