The Magical Readathon: Orilium Spring Equinox 2025

Get excited—it’s almost time to return to the Orilium Academy for ✨The Magical Readathon: Orilium Spring Equinox 2025!✨

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, our lovely host G @Book Roast created this Beginners Guide to the Magical Readathon, just in case you’re interested in starting your own journey to Orilium!

As someone who’s generally terrible at completing reading challenges, this is one challenge I join without hesitation every year because not only is it fun, but it’s also low-key, which means less pressure. This makes it easy for me to keep up as a notorious mood reader!

CHARACTER BACKGROUND

I’ve pretty much stopped tracking my guild points… I have no idea how many I have left!

  • Name: Meeska Shonara
  • Guild: House of the Arcane
  • Calling: Illusionist Rogue
  • Status: Adept
  • Background: Urban
  • Province: Kerador
  • Heritage: Earthling (Fire)
  • Conduit: Staff
  • Legacy: Pocket Dimension

Following two years of study at Orilium, Meeska is an Illusionist Rogue Apprentice. Last year, instead of continuing to pursue the Illusionist Rogue track, they decided to pursue the Mage Hunter calling. While they had a successful Spring Equinox, unfortunately, their mental health took a dip for the worse during the Autumn, which saw them spending most of the term bedridden and trying to feel normal again. Although they ended the year feeling disappointed at having failed the Autumn Equinox, they’re coming back re-energized this spring to re-attempt becoming a Mage Hunter Novice.

Orilium Spring Equinox 2025 Prompts + Possibility Pile

Meeska is back and ready to tackle the Mage Hunter calling once again! Just like last Spring, this semester they need to take the following classes: Elemental Studies, Spells & Incantations, Conjuration and Restoration. As always, being an epic mood reader means possibility piles are the way to go for maximum flexibility. Let’s get to it! ✨

ELEMENTAL STUDIES: Earth — Fruits — Fruit on the cover

I thought this prompt would be much easier to find books for but apparently, I can’t recall seeing a lot of fruits on book covers. Grapes are a surprisingly popular cover fruit! 🍇

SPELLS & INCANTATIONS: Spell — Copy-Paste — Words from Your Last Book Title

This would’ve been impossible with my last book because it was a one-word title: Vespertine! Instead, I’m going with my current book’s title: A Whisper of Death. I had surprisingly few titles with whisper or death on my TBR and these five options were the max! 🫣

CONJURATION: Locational Summons — Random country generator (x5) for author

I got some interesting options from the random country generator although I’m not 100% sure about their accuracy. The countries I got are: the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Mali, India, and Italy. I think I’ll end up going for India just because I have quite a few books already on my TBR but below are options for each country I got.

RESTORATION: Uncommon Antidotes — Book with 4+ star average rating

I’ve organized these titles by average rating from lowest to highest (L-R). If We Were Villains has the lowest average of 4.12 stars, Project Hail Mary has the highest average of 4.5 stars, and the other three are (obvi) in between!

Meeska is still unsure whether they’ll re-start the Lore side quest or if they’ll participate in any of the new side quests that were introduced this year. For now, they’re going with the flow because even though they don’t have the heaviest course load, they don’t want to over-stretch themselves, which they have a slight tendency to do!

And that’s it for the Orilium Spring Equinox this 2025! I’m excited for Meeska to continue pursuing becoming a Mage Hunter Novice. 😍 Is anyone else joining the Magical Readathon this year? Is your character changing callings or will they pursue Master status?

  1. Great TBR! Lots of really interesting choices. I’m switching my characters calling this year so ahe can do the new Tome Binder one, then adding on some ‘electives’ since it’s a small one.

  2. I really wanted to join in with this but I feel like I left it too late to do so. This is the third TBR I’ve read for the readthon in less than 24 hours though and I’m growing increasingly tempted to throw common sense (and my insane TBR) to the wind and join in 😂

Also I loved hearing your characters backstory. It’s so fun and creative how this challenge works 🥰

Grapes are popular for the wine ties 😂 honestly I don’t know if I have any books with fruit on the covers besides the Twilight series 🤔

I definitely don’t blame you for going for going for your book before last given the one word title. If I join in and have the same prompt I’ll have to do the same I imagine as my last read was The Ordeals and I can’t think of any books featuring that either 🤔

Personally I think you should go for The Final Strife as that’s one of my favourite fantasy’s series of the last few years 😅 but definitely do what works best for you.

Great choices for the 4+ ratings ones. I’m especially intrigued by One Dark Window & All My Rage 😍

Good luck with the readathon and I hope you have a fantastic time ❤️

  3. Good luck with your TBR! I’m so excited for the Magical Readathon 🥰 It’ll be my final year with my Calling, so I might switch to a new one next year 👀 I thought the random country generator was fun, though I was lucky that one of my choices was Japan, so I could pick some Manga for the prompt 😄
