#TopTenTuesday: Books of Possibility Piles Past

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is: Things Characters Have Said (Maybe a character said something really profound or romantic or hilarious or heartbreaking. You could share witty one-liners, mic-drop moments, snippets of funny dialogue between multiple characters, catchphrases, quotes that have become a part of pop culture–like “May the odds be ever in your favor.”, etc.) but I’m going rogue!

Today’s topic required too much brain power to fathom so I decided to go for something much simpler. 😂 Seriously, I’m bad enough at remembering what people say to me IRL, so it’s no surprise that I’m even worse at keeping track of what fictional characters say!

After browsing my list of noted interesting TTT topics, I landed on books from past TTTs I still haven’t read. I feel like this topic might’ve been done again in recent-ish TTT history but eh, I’m rolling with it! I chose five possibility piles from Summer 2019 – Winter 2023 and I’ll cherry-pick which ones still need to be read because as a mood reader, I wouldn’t be surprised if 90% of them are actually still on my TBR, lol. 🫣 ✨We listen and we don’t judge✨ … right?!

Miracle Creek — Summer 2019
I’ll Give You the Sun — Summer 2019
Foundryside — Spring 2020
Crown of Feathers — Spring 2020
Grown — Autumn 2021

Beautiful World, Where Are You — Autumn 2021
I’m So Not Over You — Summer 2022
The Kingdom of Copper — Summer 2022
Before I Let Go — Winter 2023
Woke Up Like This — Winter 2023

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by how many books from these possibility piles I’ve read! Well, all except for the Autumn 2021 list cos I’ve no clue what I was thinking by listing ~20 books! 😂 Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR?

  1. Foundryside is on my TBR list also, but I don’t think I’ve included it on any of my seasonal TBRs / possibility piles yet. Still, I enjoyed The Tainted Cup a lot, so I’m hoping to enjoy Foundryside also!

Happy reading! I hope you enjoy these when you get to them.

  2. I read I’ll Give You The Sun a few years ago and I remember really loving it (even if my memory of the actual plot of the book has gotten very blurry). I still want to start that series by Chakraborty. Hope you’ll love all of these when you get to them!

    • Everyone on this post that has commented on IGYTS has said how much they loved it and how much the story stuck with them. I think I may have to bump it up my TBR! 🤭 At this point, I feel I need to re-read Chakraborty’s series but I do remember enjoying the first book a lot and being excited to continue, lol. I hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it!

    • Part of me wants to ask if you want to add Foundryside to our buddy read list but that list hasn’t shrunk yet since we updated it at the start of this year so maybe not? 🤭 Haha, I do want to read it soon though—I’m curious about the author’s writing! Tainted Cup is also on my TBR 🫣

      • Haha!! Let’s just add it, what could it hurt?! haha. I do think we will make some headway. We have one on there now that we are reading! Then we will start our Chambers monthly read next month. Also, we are doing our Owlcrate books, which kind of count. We are doing great. I’m a little bit delusional. hahaha!

    • I’ve heard that about Grown but I’ve also heard it’s quite a tough/emotional read so I’m always waiting to be sure I’m in the right mood to read it. At this point, I might as well just pick it up and see how it works for whatever mood I’m in, haha. 😆 I love what you’ve said about your experience reading her books and honestly, it makes me more keen to pick her books up asap!

  3. I can totally relate, I am a mood reader, too, so I get the struggle! I have a couple of books on your list that have been on my TBR pile for longer than I can remember I have no idea when I will be able to get to them so many books I want to read but have no time at all

    • Mood readers, unite! 🤭 If only our moods were more predictable and we had so much more time to accommodate all the things we feel to read all the books we say we want to read! 😂 I hope you enjoy the ones on your TBR whenever you get to them!

  4. I’ll Give You The Sun is a wonderful read! It’s been a while since I read it but the story really stayed with me – definitely recommend that (and her other books) so so much!

    • Everything I hear about that book is always glowing so I do hope that I end up feeling the same way about it. I feel like I’m slowly outgrowing certain YA stories, which is why I think I’m hesitant to pick it up. But I’m still keen to give it a try at some point, lol. Nelson had a more recent release, right?

      • Yes that’s how I feel about YA as well – definitely a lot less enthused about new releases in the genre than I used to be but Jandy Nelson’s books have held up for me personally! There are more mature themes than a typical YA which you can look at differently as an adult. I loved her new release (When The World Tips Over) as well!

    • That’s been on my TBR for YEARS and I think I keep putting it off because I feel like I’ve outgrown a lot of YA lately. It’s such a well-loved title though so I hope that, when I do give it a try, I’ll enjoy it as much as everyone else 🙂

  5. I’m glad going through your lists left you positively surprised 🥰 at the end of the year/start of next one I want to go through my yearly anticipated posts and see what I still need to read so I’m hoping I’ll get to the ones I actually own before then 😂

There’s a great mix of books listed here. I loved Kingdom Of Copper (but still need to read the finale 🙈) and have Crown Of Feathers on my Kindle. A few of the others are on my TBR too. Have you read any of Tiffany Jacksons books yet? I’ve got a few on my unowned TBR but somehow haven’t tried any yet.

Good luck getting to these. I look forward to seeing how you get on 🥰

    • It was a massive surprise because I’m such a mood reader and even possibility piles more often than not don’t end up getting read. So I’m glad that I did myself solid here, haha 😂 I don’t think I’ll expect much more from myself so maybe in the next few years I’ll look back again and see how many books I’ve read since this one.

I really enjoyed the first book in Chakraborty’s series and I’ve heard so many amazing things about it as a whole. I need to re-read the first book so I can dive straigh into Kingdom of Copper! I don’t know why I never continued because I was looking forward to it reading on. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I haven’t read anything by Tiffany Jackson yet! Well, I’ve read some of her writing in this fantastic anthology called Black Out and I really enjoyed it but I haven’t read anything full length by her. I’m actually not entirely sure what other books she’s come out with (but I’m sure I’ll be like “oooh, yeah, that one!” once I see the covers or hear the titles, haha). I hope you enjoy the books on your list as well whenever you get to them!

      • They must have been ones you were really excited to get to I guess. I’m glad you did better than expected. Always better than discovering you’d miss more than you’d imagined 😂 I hope the check in goes well whenever you decide to do it.

I think sometimes if you don’t have the time to read a sequel straight away for whatever reason it becomes more daunting to pick up. And then it hits that ‘oh now I need to reread book one’ point and even if you loved it you kind of feel bad for rereading something when you have hundreds of books on your shelves. Or that seems to be the case with me anyway 😂 whenever you get to Daevabad I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the sequels.

I think I’ve heard of that anthology. I’ll have to look it up again though and see who else contributed to it. I’m glad you found it so good 🥰 I really want to read Mondays Not Coming by her. And I remember Allegedy also particularly catching my eye. I have a fair few books by her jotted down though. Thank you 🥰

  6. I starting doing this last year and post my list about 3 times a year. I have about 40 books from my lists since November 2018, so not too bad. I update, adding and taking away. Someday, I will get caught up. The only one on your list that is languishing on my TBR shelf is Miracle Creek. Blasted mood reading gets me too, Dini.
