Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve finished 3 books.

Long Bright River by Liz Moore ★★★★½
I can understand why this was such a wildly popular book when it came out. Liz Moore does an excellent job exploring the complexities of family and sister relationships. She also explores the impacts of substance abuse, poverty, and corruption—these are some heavy topics and it was quite a heavy/depressing read that was more literary than mystery but all fantastically done.
Rebel Witch (The Crimson Moth #2) by Kristen Ciccarelli ★★★★½
As a whole, I give this duology a solid 5 stars (don’t ask how when I rated both books 4.5) but I enjoyed the conclusion to this duology so much—the enemies-to-lovers tension was off-the-charts! [Check out my review]
The Girl in the Hockey Jersey (Off the Ice #0.5) by Ainsley Booth ★★★★☆
This was an old recommendation from either the Fated Mates romance podcast or by b.andherbooks in the good old Twitter days. It’s a novella prequel to a hockey romance series and I’m a fan of Booth’s writing. She also knows how to write an intense and emotional erotic bedroom scene well. Also, angst! Pining! We’re here for it! 😍

Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales ⇢ 42%
This has been my morning (and sometimes evening) commute read and I’ve loved every moment of being back with Emily and Wendell. So many new adventures, nightmares, characters, and monsters to meet—I’m devastated this is the end of the trilogy! 😭

Reign of the Talon ⇢ 25%
I’m taking my time with this and mostly reading it at night. It’s long and it kind of feels long. There are a whole lot of perspectives that shift from first to third person. I’m still very curious to see how this story will end but I hope it doesn’t end up feeling too repetitive!

Four Dead Queens ⇢ I’ll be starting this on Friday as part of the Owlcrate books buddy read group. I remember hearing good things about this when it first came out so I’m excited to check it out! 😊

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

I am starting Rebel Witch today and am SO EXCITED. The new Emily Wilde was so good, too. I hope you love how it all ends. Although, I, too, am devastated that the trilogy is over. There could be so many more great adventures. Maybe one day she’ll return to them? I’m not giving up hope. lol.

Aah! I hope you love it, Chris! 😍 It’s such a fun angsty fantasy romance and I was happy with how things concluded. I’m loving Emily Wilde so far—it’s so good to be back with these two and reuniting with old characters in surprising ways has been a delight, too! I am not giving up hope that Fawcett will abandon this world. Maybe we’ll get other different stories, not with Em and Wendell but other characters!? That would be amaze (*manifesting* right now)! 😂

It looks like you’ve read some fantastic books lately. I’m glad you enjoyed the Crimson Moth duology so much. I really must get on and read the ebook sometime. Although I’ve got another book by the author in print and will probably get to that one first. I’m glad the novella went well too.
Yay I’m so glad you’re enjoying Emily Wilde 🥰 I found it totally addictive and even though I read it in December I’m still not ready to leave the world behind. I hope your other current read goes well. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t get too repetitive for you.
I hope you enjoy your next buddy read too and have a fantastic week 🥰

Thanks, Charlotte! I do think it has been a good reading week even if I’m not devouring mountains of books. This year is really shaping up to be a slow reading year and I’m here for it, lol. I hope you love The Crimson Moth duology whenever you get to it—it’s such a great fantasy romance that gives me all the feels. Ugh, the angst was just so good and I’m not typically an angst girlie (although I feel that’s changing over the years, haha). What’s the book by Cicarrelli on your TBR? I don’t think I’ve heard of her other works but I’d be curious to check it out! I hope you enjoy it 🙂
This Emily Wilde book has been such a delight so far. I’m coming up to halfway through and I wish it was the weekend already so I didn’t have to worry about sleeping and getting up for work! 😂 I’m so sad to leave this world but I hope that Fawcett doesn’t leave it behind for good!
I hope the rest of your week goes great! 💜

I think you’ve gotten to a great amount. I keep not finding time to read lately where I’ve been trying to catch up on other things. From tonight I’m determined to start doing better as I really miss it. Thank you 🥰 Ooh I actually love a bit of angst. I’m glad you enjoyed it so much. The one I need to read is Edgewood. Which looks like it’s being rereleased as A Dark Forgetting for some reason 🤔 I’ve read her Iskari series too and really enjoyed it. Although it is one of those ones where the sequels end up different than you’d imagine I did love each Installment.
Aww yay I’m glad you’re loving it so much 🥰 at least you’re almost at the weekend now and will be able to pick it up more soon. But yes I don’t want to leave the world behind either. I hope she does something else set within it at some point 🤞
Thank you 💕

But I would defo recommend checking it out cos it’s just so good! Oh, the feels. 💜 Haha, I’m proud of us for finally working our way through these Owlcrate books. I hope we love it! haha!! I feel this all the time with book. It’s why it’s terrible to be a mood reader. I have so many books going on at the moment, you’re right! I have a kind of long wait at the library for book two though. Yes!! Me too, those poor books have been sitting on my Owlcrate section for too long, unread. 😛 Thank you, you too!! ❤

Yes! Ah! It’s so good 😍 I love being back with these characters SO much and I’m sad that this will be the last book, lol. But I hope that Fawcett won’t leave this world behind for good (or for too long). I hope you love the other Emily Wilde books whenever you get to them, Emma!

After almost two whole months of no 5-star read, I’ve finally found it in Emily Wilde (natch it would be Emily’s book)! 😍 I loved it so much and I’m sad it’s over but that was so satisfying! 🥹

I am SO curious about The Crimson Moth duology! And I get it, even if it seems strange when you did not rate either book 5 stars, having the duology as a 5 stars makes sense somehow.

I think you would probably enjoy The Crimson Moth duology, Anna! I would highly recommend it if it’s not already on your TBR! 😍
