2025 Buzzword Title Reading Challenge

Happy Friday, friends! I’ve got a whole backlog of book posts that I’ve meant to get out sooner but haven’t got around to doing so expect several challenge-related blog posts in the upcoming blogging schedule!

First up is the ✨ Buzzword Reading Challenge! ✨ This year, to celebrate the 5th year of this challenge, Kayla @BooksandLala has given us two Buzzword Challenges! 👀 I’m sticking with the classic title/word challenge but if you love to read based on covers, you can check out her video below where she goes into more detail about it! What I love about this challenge is that there are very few rules and you can read when you want and how you want. As a mood reader, that flexibility is *chef’s kiss* amazing!

Here are the two cute reading challenge templates that Kayla made for this challenge but I’m not quite sure which one I want to use yet so I’ve saved both!

Now let’s get down to business and highlight a couple of books that I’m considering for these prompts! If you’re doing this challenge I’d love to know what you’re considering reading too!

JANUARY
“Truth” and “Lies”

FEBRUARY
Water Words

MARCH
“Thing”

    APRIL
    Animals

    MAY
    “to” and “too”

    JUNE
Memory Words (memory, remember, forgot, forget)

    JULY
    Punctuation (;)-!”&.?%

    AUGUST
    “With”

    SEPTEMBER
“Events” (feast, funeral, wedding, retreat, vacation, honeymoon, birthday, party)

    OCTOBER
    Violent Words

    NOVEMBER
    “Never”

    DECEMBER
Alliteration (two or more words that begin with the same sound)

I know that last one is cheating a bit but there are two different same-sound words and I say it counts! 🤣 But also, this was the toughest prompt of the lot!

And there we have it, folks! It took a minute but we’ve finally reached the end. 🤣 As a mood reader, I like to have plenty of options but if you’re doing this challenge and are scrounging for options, I hope these can help you with titles! Are you doing this challenge too? If you’re keen to do a buddy read for one (or more) of these prompts, let me know!

    1. Good Luck, Dini. You have some good books to choose from here. I used to do this challenge a few years ago, but with cutting back, this one got cut. Have fun with it.

    2. I did not make a sign-up post for the challenge, just included in my 2025 goals, but I did have a small list of options, and I think that posting it like you did is a great idea to get some feedback on your choices, but also in making you properly think about them, so I might publish mine too.

I will talk about some books you have mentioned that I am interested in. For example, I’d love to go back to Witchlands and start with Truthwitch, but I already have an option for January. I don’t have a clear one for other months, so I’d be happy to buddy read as well.

It’s my first year joining and I liked how non-stressful it seems, because you could even read the options in other months, though I get that ideally you would go month by month, but knowing that made me try to do it.

For example, I will be reading People We Meet on Vacation for sure this year, but September might be a bit late for it, so I might read it a bit earlier. Will you try reading the books only during the months for them to count or will you be more flexible?

Since I love Tahereh Maffi’s writing to much, I should include A Very Large Expanse of Sea, but I am a bit hesitant, since it sounds so different from her other books. Everything I Know About Love, Something More, How to End a Love Story and This is How to Lose the Time War sound interesting.

August seems like one of the easiest months, since a lot of romances include “with” in their titles.

I am curious to see if you end up reading these or other titles, so I’ll keep an eye out on your wrap ups. Best of luck!

    3. I looked at another TBR for this challenge yesterday and I’m really tempted to try and join in. Although I already signed up for four and I’m not sure how wise it will be 🤔 I’ll look at my priority TBRs later and see what I’ve got option wise that fits.

I have a lot of these on my TBR but some or the ones I’m most excited for are Listen For The Lie, Sometimes I Lie, Spells For Forgetting, Sweet And Bitter Magic, In My Dreams & Red Rising. I literally cannot wait for Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil. Plus I really want to try that Nghi Vo series and have all three Yangsze Choo books on my TBR. The Tiger one is the only one I actually own though 😂 good luck with this and I really hope you enjoy whichever books you end up reading for this.
