#TopTenTuesday: December 2024 Possibility Pile

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books on My Winter 2024-2025 to-Read List

Living in the tropics, there’s not much for seasonal reading here but I still love making these lists! It seems as if we’re speeding our way through December and I can’t believe we’ll be waking up to a new year in two weeks. Two weeks?! I don’t know about you but these years are zooming by for me! My flabber do be gasted.

But I digress. Here are ten books on my possibility pile for December! 😍 Some of these may be “currently reading” titles I’m hoping to finish before the end of the year…

Rare Blend
How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying
Whisky Business
How Not to Drown in A Glass of Water
Black Water Sister

Under the Mistletoe with You
One Bed for Christmas
Cruel Winter with You
How My Neighbour Stole Christmas
The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year

Do you still have many books you hope to read before the end of 2024? Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR?

  1. Under the Mistletoe with You is on my ‘hopefully by the end of the year’ list too. I also can’t believe how close we are to the end of the year. I think I say it every single year at around this time, but I really do feel like it was turning 2024 just yesterday.

    • Have you got around to reading it yet? I haven’t but I have read another one of the books in that novella collection so it’s still on my hopefuls list! 🤭 I know I say the same thing every year too but it really does feel like 2024 just started yesterday… I know I’ll be saying the same thing as, before we know it, 2025 also wraps up, LOL. I hope you’re having a good December thus far though!

  2. My list takes me into March, and I won’t be starting it until January. I can’t believe this year is almost over. I will be heading down to Florida two weeks today and I can’t believe it. Whiskey Business is one on my TBR, but who knows when I will get to it. I listened to Cruel Winter With You and it was a bit steamy. I hope you get to all of these, eventually, Dini.

  3. How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water sounds compelling. Is it about a character with depression? That is my guess anyway knowing nothing about the book except the title.

My Winter Reading list is largely based on the challenges I’ve set for myself, book club selections, and books I have on hold with Libby. My Winter Reading list

    • So the title is actually a Spanish saying which essentially means to cry until you no longer need to cry anymore. I wouldn’t say the main character is depressed but she has experienced so much as an immigrant and single mother. It’s humorous and emotional and though I haven’t finished reading it yet, I would still already recommend it if that sounds like your cuppa 🙂

I hope you’re enjoying your winter reads so far!

  4. Hope you enjoy all of these! And I agree, where ARE these years going??

I have Ally’s (though mine is the hardcover edition – your featured cover looks so cute!), and I really do want to read it because it does sound fun! Maybe I’ll make a point to sneak it in during these next two weeks. 🙂

    • Did you end up enjoying Dark Lord? I’ve decided to put that one down for now because the humour isn’t really jiving with my mood at the minute and I seem to be unable to push myself to pick it back up again this year. Maybe in 2025! Ngl, I’ve had a hard time concentrating too so you’re not alone there. I hope you’ve been having a good December otherwise!

          • I didn’t which is why I requested the arc in the first place, so when I got to the end I was like what?? So yea, at least one more book, but idk what the author is planning, if it’ll be a duology or longer. So def keep that in mind if you’re wondering why not much is happening 😂

  5. Yeah, this year has really sped by. I’m behind on things I should be wrapping up.

I love the thought of a possibility pile.

Thank you for stopping by earlier.

      • I just finished Black Water Sister the other day and even though it was a step outside of my comfort zone I ended up loving it! Really great read 🙂 Yes, the holiday romance novella compilation came out in November at some point and I’ve heard mixed things about it but I’m still keen to give it a go 🙂 I hope you enjoy it if you do check it out!

    • Sigh. I’ve told myself I need to start thinking about wrapping things up for at least a week now but I’ve been exceedingly proficient in my procrastination this year, haha! 🤣 Maybe it’ll finally happen this week… I hope December is going well for you, Lydia!

    • I finished Black Water Sister the other day and really enjoyed it! I had to put down Dark Lord for now because the OTT humour was just a bit too much for my mood at the moment. It’s completely different to what I expected initially and while not in a bad way per se, I do think you need to be in the right mood for it (well, aI need to be anyway)! 😅

    • The top row include ones that I started at some point this year and for one reason or another (mostly my mood) I haven’t finished. I’m hoping to clear out my “currently reading” shelf before the year ends though so these will almost certainly get read! 😂 Let’s see how it actually goes. I don’t read a lot of holiday themed romances cos I live in a country where the majority don’t celebrate it save for commercial reasons but I do enjoy them this time of year.

  6. I have seen How My Neighbor Stole Christmas ALL over the place! I cannot wait to see what you think of it and if it’s worth the hype. I hope you get to all of these and enjoy them, Dini!

    • I honestly put it down for now because it’s just not clicking with my mood. The humour is too OTT for me to take seriously and the repetition is not… working for me. 🤣 I hope to come back to it though cos while it was different, it wasn’t necessarily bad different, lol I hope you enjoy it if you end up getting to it before I do 😜

        • It’s a little groundhog day-ish. It does get better as the story progresses (a bit) but it’s defo one that you have to be patient with, I think. At least, that’s what it feels like for me right now, lol. I’ve also just heard that it’s part of a series and not sure how many books it’ll be? Makes me reconsider picking it back up at the moment lol

  7. “My flabber do be gasted”? ahaha I’m cackling! 😂 Also, I wish I was living in the tropics, I’m a small lizard not made for freezing winters! lol Aww it looks like you have so many cozy christmassy reads on your list. I hope you enjoy whatever you pick up in the rest of this month that is flying by! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier ♥.

    • Haha, I don’t know where I first heard people saying that but when I thought of how quickly the year passed, it immediately popped up in my head 😂 I would trade you for the freezing winters because I love bundling up so much and I miss doing that. My body also stays warm and heats up very quickly so I’m always over here sweating my butt off when no one else has broken a sweat, haha. It’s a right pain! Sending all the warm vibes your way ✨ I hope you’re having a great December so far!

      • That’s so funny, I had never heard that before but it certainly fits! Aww haha I love being warm so much that I basically bundle up year-long I don’t care if it’s summer, I have my couch blankets 😂 Sounds like we do need to switch haha. Thank you, & I’m sending you all the snowflakes that you want ❄! I am having a lovely December, gonna go help my mom prep the Christmas food today. I hope you’re enjoying your Dec too!

  8. I’m so out of the loop, so I don’t recognize many of these, but I did read Hazelwood’s. It was a 3.5 stars read for me. Not my favorite of hers, but still a cute, short read for the holidays. And yes, this year went by so fast. I feel like it should still be April. I hope you enjoy these, Dini!

    • I’ve heard mixed opinions with the release of this holiday novella collection but I’m keen to check it out at some point 🙂 I feel like it should till be April too and I feel like 2025 is going to make me feel just the same way. I hope the end of the year goes smoothly for you, Dedra!

    • I put down Dark Lord for now because the humour is just too OTT for me right now and I can’t take it seriously, haha 🤣 Still need to pick up MQ’s book but I always have a good time with her books so I’m looking forward to it.
