#WWWWednesday: 11 December 2024

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish 3 books.

Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl’s Moving Castle #1) by Diana Wynne Jones ★★★½
HMC is one of my favourite Ghibli movies so I was a bit apprehensive about reading the book but I’m glad that I finally did! I did a buddy read with Becky and we both thought the whimsicality of this book saved it from being too disjointed and weird. 😂 It was a lot of fun and we both enjoyed it!

A Cruel Thirst by Angela Montoya ★★★★☆
I loved Lalo and Carolina—he’s such a softie and she slays (pun intended 🤭)! Their banter was A+ perfection *chef’s kiss!* The only reason this wasn’t a 5-star is because my logical brain got caught on some inconsistencies, but I’d still highly recommend it! My review is up tomorrow.

Blindsided (Harris Brothers World #2) by Amy Daws ★★★½
I had no expectations going into this because I found it on a list of books that could fit one of my Buzzword Challenge prompts (“senses“) and while the FMC could be pretty cringe, I loved their banter and found their friends-to-lovers romance so much fun! They argued like an old married couple and it was hilarious 😍 Mac was also just a bit swoony (when he wasn’t being a bit of nob at the end)! ✨

A Taste of Gold and Iron (Mahisti Dynasty #1) by Alexandra Rowland ⇉ 65%

I’ve finally picked this back up and am keen to finish it. I’m still enjoying it but it’s a slower-paced read that sometimes feels quite long! I don’t even know how to describe this. It’s political and diplomatic but with very detailed attention paid to customs, clothing, culture, etc. It’s court politics but not. It’s complex! 🤭

I’m targeting books that will help me finish both of my challenges for this year and that fit the festive mood!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. I hope you enjoy all your Christmas reads that are coming up! I really need to get my stuff together earlier in the year. I am finishing last minute things and don’t have room for seasonal books. LOL oops! Have a lovely week, Dini!!
