#TopTenTuesday: Ten Destination Titles

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Destination Titles (titles with name of places in them. These places can be real or fiction!) (this was a topic Rachel @ Sunny Side came up with for a freebie week last year and has let me steal it!)

I saw someone do this post last week and immediately noted it down to do in the future, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was this week’s topic! I didn’t want to include names of places such as shops, restaurants, and the like and I was sure this would be an easy topic, but apparently not! 😅 I eventually landed on 10 titles but it took some extra browsing and deliberate searching of phrases and places to find them! This list is a mix of fictional and real places and also titles from my TBR and read list. Let’s visit them, shall we? 🗺️

We’ll Never Have Paris
After Hours on Milagro Street
The Lotus Empire
Made in Manhattan
The Kingdom of Back

The Beast of Beswick
One Italian Summer
How to Fake It in Hollywood
The Left-Handed Booksellers of London
In A New York Minute

Did you have an easy time finding destination titles on your shelves? Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR? Have you been to any of these IRL places?

    • Definitely not the only one! It sounded deceptively easy! LOL I can’t actually recall adding One Italian Summer to my TBR however long ago it was but I guess I must’ve heard good things about it to want to read it! I hope it’s true 🙂

  1. Great choices! It took me a while to find my books, too; some I remembered off the top of my head, but I had to go through my entire list of 5-star books for the rest. But I’m saving The Left-Handed Booksellers of London for a future post on Children’s and YA books with destinations in the title.

Here’s my TTT list for this week.

  2. I have read none of these, and do not know many. I am interested in The Kingdom of Back because it’s Marie Lu and I’ve liked her books. It was smart to add Kingdom to the list!

I also read something by Rebecca Serle years ago and I wonder how her writing has changed.

    • I’ve only read one book by Marie Lu and really enjoyed it but Kingdom of Back seems completely different in comparison. I’m keen to check it out though cos it has quite a unique sounding premise. Did you enjoy what you read by Rebecca Serle? I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by her before but I could be wrong lol

      • I’ve read the Legend series and The Young Elites trilogy, and I am interested in her other titles. I agree that this one feels very different, I wonder how it is.
I read Famous in Love by her. It was okay, but I haven’t encountered any other titles by her I was interested in.

  3. Great list! I’m glad it wasn’t just me who struggled with this topic.

I need to read The Left-Handed Booksellers of London! Also, seeing other posts from this week (including yours) made me realize that it would have been a much easier prompt if I’d allowed myself to use TBR books too, and not only books I’ve already read! LOL

    • My family went all over Europe when my brother and I were still kids but the only thing I remember about that 2-month trip was getting sick in France and being miserable 😂 Would one day love to replace that memory of traveling Europe as an adult, haha.

  4. You did great!! Yes, I had such a hard time. I spent so much time searching my lists that I didn’t know if it was worth it. haha. I had to continue after the kids went to sleep. I gave myself a time and if I didn’t get 10 then I would just quit. LOL! I figured it was going to be such an easy topic. 😀

    • You’re definitely not the only one who thought it’d be easier to do! I was surprised by how many titles I forgot but also how few I found while browsing my digital shelves 🫣 I’ve had Kingdom of Back on my TBR for ages… I hope we both enjoy it whenever we get to it 🙂
