We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Halloween Freebie!
This week is a Halloween Freebie and since I don’t do particularly spooky things, I’ve decided to go the route that works best for me this spooky reading season: paranormal romances/monster romances/witchy vampy wolfy romances… All the fitting romance subgenres, lol! 🤭 I’m specifically looking at books I still need to read and can’t wait to do so, even though the spooky season is technically already over by the end of October. Side note: how is it already the end of October!?
Anyway, without further fluffing around, here are ten titles in the aforementioned romance subgenres I’m excited to read…

Soulless
Haunted Ever After
Apprentice to the Villain
The Phoenix Keeper
What the Hex

The Spellshop
Morbidly Yours
My Vampire Plus-One
The Letters We Keep
Morning Glory Milking Farm

Do you enjoy any of these romance subgenres? Have you read any of these books or do they look like something you’d enjoy? What’re some of your favourite books in these subgenres (if you read them)?

I read Assistant to the Villain but was disappointed so I had to dop Apprentice to the Villain unfortunately. I just couldn’t do it anymore haha. But My Vampire Plus-One is on my list too and I am looking forward to it.

Fair enough! I know a lot of people who felt the same about Assistant but I had such a fun time with it. It was so silly and didn’t take itself too seriously so I didn’t either. I can defo see why people wouldn’t like it though 🤣 I hope you enjoy Vampire Plus-One!

I don’t read a lot of vampire or witchy books, but a couple of these covers do call to me, Amish.

I really enjoyed the whole Soulless series and it’s spin-offs.

I read part of the graphic novel adaptation before realising it was originally a novel. I can’t wait to check it out 🙂

I actually haven’t heard much about Apprentice but I did enjoy the first book so I hope I’ll feel the same about the sequel 🙂

The Phoenix Keeper is such a good one!! I still need to read the Villains series. I read Spellshop and I struggled with that one. I was so upset because I loved the premise and cover!!

Oh, I didn’t know that you read Spellshop already and struggled with it 🥺 That bums me out to hear! Seeing as we have pretty similar taste I hope that I can still manage to enjoy it! 😅 Villains is a fun silly time and not a book that takes itself too seriously. I had fun with it and I hope that if you do check it out, you do as well!

It could 100% have been my mood because so many people seem to like Spellshop! I hope you do too. 🙂 Thank you!! I have the first Villains book so I plan to get to it at some point. haha

I really enjoyed both Assistant and Apprentice to the Villain and you’ve reminded me that I still need to read Haunted Ever After. Also, MGMF is much better than it has any right to be haha.

I’ve heard so many interesting and interestingly good things about MGMF. I did start reading it at one point but never got around to finishing it for mood reasons but I’m keen to give it another go! 🤭 I hope you enjoy Haunted whenever you read it!

I always think the model on the cover of Souless has such bad posture. It makes me look every time.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Omg, yes! There was always something off with that cover; I guess the hat is too heavy.

I could never put my finger on why I get thrown off by that cover every time I look at it and maybe that’s it! I can’t wait to read it though 😂

I am also not big on Halloween and do not like spooky things so I enjoyed your topic a lot! I’ve never tried monster romances but from your other picks, there are some I am curious about.
I need to read Apprentice to the Villain! I have read Assistant not too long ago and I’d like to continue soon. I remember seeing Soulless a lot when it came out, and other books by the author, but I never read them.
I am also intrigued and want to read books by Jen deLuca and Jena Levine; I should read My Roommate is a Vampire first though. Maybe next spooky season? I could read it whenever but it might feel weird.

Hehe, monster romances are definitely something and definitely not for everyone but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by some of the ones I’ve read! Surprised in that they have more substance than just monster smut 🤣 My Roommate is a Vampire was a fun read—I didn’t end up loving it as much as everyone else but enough that I want to read this second book. I hope you enjoy the books if you check them out!

They just don’t call to me but I also do not know exactly what that is because are vampires and fae considered monster romances as well? I guess it’s the same with any other type of romance, some are deeper and others are more surface-level or focus more on the smut..
Well, My Roommate is a Vampire looks like a fun read and it’s what I’d expect from that book. Maybe next year.

I read your review for The Spellshop and you convinced me to pick it up sooner rather than later. It sounds so wonderful 😍 I hope you enjoy Vampire Plus-One whenever you check it out!

Carriger’s series are great and feature so many creatures. Morbidly Yours really won me over as well.

I started reading the graphic novel for Carriger’s first book before I even know that it was a novel! I’m keen to check it out cos it sounds very interesting but I haven’t heard many people talk about it!

She did that world for three different age groups. The Parasol Protectorate is adult, The Custard Protocol is like new adult, while Finishing School leans more young adult. I thought all her stuff was great.

These are great! Several of them are still on my TBR, too, even though I had planned to read seasonally appropriate books this month and then… didn’t. Ooops.
Happy TTT on a Wednesday! Somehow I scheduled my post in advance and then completely forgot yesterday was Tuesday!

Ha, I feel like that happens to me all the time (as much as it’s possible for a mood reader to plan these things) but there’s always next year… or something like that, haha. 🤣
