#WWWWednesday: 21 August 2024

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve finished 2 books. It’s been a slow but steady reading week.

Black Sun (Between Earth and Sky #1) by Rebecca Roanhorse ★★★★½
What an epic read! I’m so glad that I buddy-read this with Becky because I gushed a lot and it was nice to have someone to chat theories with. My review is up tomorrow but long story short: I loved the world-building and characters so much and I can’t wait to continue the series next month! 😍

A Rose Among Thorns (Hall of Thorns #1) by Ash Fitzsimmons ★★★★☆
Despite a bit of a rocky start, I ended up really enjoying this novella that’s a combination of cosy fantasy + cosy mystery. The characters were entertaining, the plot fast-paced, and the fantasy world-building and magic system had a light touch. I’m keen to continue this series! My review is coming up this Saturday.

The Book That Wouldn’t Burn ⇢ 47%

I’m making small and steady progress with this. At this point, it’s all slowly coming together and I’m still enjoying it a lot! Although the world-building and very descriptive writing can be a bit overwhelming at times, I’m amazed by Lawrence’s storytelling and I’m keen to see how he continues to weave the threads together.

Immortal Dark ⇢ 1%

I’m very nervous about starting this one because my track record with my most anticipated releases this year has not been great. 😅 I’ve just finished the prologue so I don’t have much to say other than I’m intrigued!

My mood has been funky lately so other than the ARCs, let’s see!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

    • Yep, definitely screws with the mind 😂 I know I can read much more into the story but I’m kind of on the surface of that depth right now cos I’m worried it might overwhelm me and I’ll get more confused, haha. BUT it’s still somehow working for me. The world building is incredible!

    • I ended up really enjoying Immortal Dark! It was *very* dark and not an easy read emotionally because of the intensity of our MCs but it worked for me in the end and I’m so excited to read the next book already 😂 I hope you enjoy Black Sun!

    • I finished it last night and I ended up really enjoying it a lot! I still need to gather my thoughts on it but I can see why it would work for some and why it won’t for others. It’s incredibly dark and violent, plus the MCs aren’t necessarily the easiest to like and they’re the most morally grey characters I’ve had the pleasure to read. 😂 I’m so glad it ended up working out for me, lol
