Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

Since last week, I’ve finished 4 books. As you can see, it’s an odd combination of books I’ve read this past week. 😅

The Alien’s Bite, The Alien’s Fire, The Alien’s Blade, We Are Big Time

Craving the Heveians Series by Ella Blake
Forget my cowboy romance era, it seems I’ve hit my alien romance era now! I’ve had this series on my radar for a while now (I don’t recall from where) and I picked it up on a whim over the weekend. I don’t know why my brain is letting me finish these books in particular, but I’m honestly just glad to be reading, lol. 😂 They’re “light-hearted”, instalove to the max (fated mates and all), kinda ridiculous and an all around bonkers romp but I’m apparently here for it. I think I like the sci-fi + action more than the romance but it’s not terrible… And they are a bit steamy but not Ruby Dixon levels (I’d say 1-2 sex scenes per book). Here’s how I’d rate them:

We Are Big Time by Hena Khan ★★★★★
Okay, I knew I would enjoy this MG graphic novel but I didn’t think I’d love it as much as I did. It’s just… Such a feel good read and the goodness even had me teary eyed by the end! This is for those who love the underdogs—they might not be the number one team but their hearts are in the right place. I loved it!

As I said, I seem to be in my alien romance era. Let’s see how long this lasts (probably not much longer, lol). I need to keep pushing through with my ARCs. Hopefully, my brain will latch on to them

The Book That Wouldn’t Burn ⇢ 25%

I’m still slowly making my way through this. Sometimes Lawrence’s writing trips me up and I end up re-reading parts often. I think it’s because my brain is unable to absorb much quickly these days. I’m enjoying it though! I’m so curious about what’s happening!

When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain ⇢ 76%

No progress has been made. 🫣

My mood has been funky lately so other than the ARCs, let’s see!

  1. haha the first thing I thought when I saw the alien books was “I wonder how they compare to IPB” so I’m glad you mentioned how they compare. They sound like good fun. We Are Big Time sounds wholesome and It looks extremely relevant given what’s been going on in the sporting world re: Islamophobia.

    • These alien romances aren’t the best but they’re short, easy to move through and just the right thing for when you want something super lite and just mindless 😂 And yes, We Are Big Time is really relevant given all that’s happening globally. I’m glad that it doesn’t focus on the girl’s trauma though and that it spotlights the sport and their personal growth! It’s a wonderful read 🙂

      • ahah okay noted 🙂 Sometimes it’s nice to read a fun silly romp that doesn’t require too much effort! & oh yes I’m glad it doesn’t focus on trauma too, that sounds like a delightful read!

    • Hehe, I think I’m enjoying it on a very basic and surface level but I can see how people can read a lot more into it because there’s a lot of depth! 😂 It’s one that I’m glad to be enjoying slowly!
