We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books on My Summer 2024 To-Read List
I’m not much of a seasonal reader, especially since I live in the tropics where it’s either hot, humid and hot, or disgustingly humid and hot pretty much the whole year round! But while the summer vibe is perpetual, I do love making these lists! 😉 One month of the summer is gone but I still plan to read these over the next couple of months. Most are ARCs, some are planned buddy re-reads (that I need to follow up on!), and others are books that I think I might be most in the mood for.

Change of Heart by Kate Canterbary
Foul Days by Genoveva Dimova
A Darker Mischief by Derek Milman
Do Me A Favor by Cathy Yardley
The Second Son by Adrienne Tooley

The Secret of the Fang by Michelle Lam
The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri Reread
Castles in their Bones by Laura Sebastian Reread
Wendy, Darling by A.C. Wise
They Hate Each Other by Amanda Woody

Are you a seasonal reader? What books are on your summer list? Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR?

I only read The Jasmine Throne from your list.

I enjoy the occasional seasonal read but I’m not really a seasonal reader. You have some great books coming up!

Same here, especially cos I always have the same weather here 😂 Thanks, Tessa!

I’m about to start reading A Darker Mischief today! I hope we both end up enjoying it. I still need to read They Hate Each Other, too. The Jasmine Throne is awesome! I can’t wait for the final book later this year.

Ope! I just commented saying I was going to read it soon if you wanted to do a buddy read 😂 Haha, I hope you enjoy it! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it! I’m planning to re-read Jasmine Throne and continue on through the rest of the series just in time for the final book. Excited about it! 😃

I wish we were buddy reading this one so I could share my reactions in real time with someone. I am not impressed with it so far, and the further I get, the more I just shake my head. I considered DNFing it, but it is sort of like a train crash that you just can’t look away from.

LISTEN. I was already a little bit worried about what I’d think of it cos it’s a little outside my comfort zone and I was going to start it tonight but now I don’t want to. WELP 😂😭 I’m so sad to hear this! Haha

Start it! I’m very curious to see if we have similar thoughts about it. Based on the reviews I’ve seen, it seems like a pretty polarizing book with some people loving it and others hating it without much in between. Feel free to message me with thoughts while you are reading. I’d love to discuss it as you go! 🙂

Yep, pretty much felt the same way as you, Chris. I was reading a few of the 5-star glowing reviews and felt like we read totally different books 😂😭 I wanted to message you while I was reading but I’m like nah, I’m going to rant and be a total negative Nancy, I’d feel bad subjecting Chris to this, haha. I shoulda messaged though 😂

I would have been negative right along with you. lol. The book was pretty awful. The glowing reviews were KILLING me. People were praising the writing, and I just could not believe it. This was arguably some of the worst writing I’ve read since I started blogging.

I’m really intrigued by the new Cathy Yardley. Role Playing was such a pleasant surprise, I’m interested to see if this one lives up to it.

Role Playing was also my first book by Yardley and I loved it SO much! I’m really excited about this one too 😍 I hope you love it as well!

Hard to be a seasonal reader when you have no discernable seasons, right? 🙂 Living in Florida, I can kind of relate. I’ve never read anything by Cathy Yardley and keep meaning to check out her books.

I read my first book by Yardley last year and it ended up being one of my faves of the year so I’m really looking forward to this one 🙂

In the South it’s tornado season, summer, tornado/hurricane season, and then those two weeks in Jan-Feb where it’s cold. XD

@smellincoffee – So true! That’s when we get our 10 cold(ish) days a year. Haha.

I’m more of a mood reader, though some seasons will inspire distinct reading. Ordinarily I’d say I do a lot of American history in the summer, but when I read my list this morning it was half science fiction. XD

I don’t feel like I’m a seasonal reader really, I just go by whatever I feel in the moment which is usually fantasy anyways. This year I’m feeling more romance-y than usual though! Great list, so much on there that I want to read too! Namely The Jasmine Throne, I really liked Tasha Suri’s other series (well, duology).

I tend to enjoy some fall reads during the fall and some holiday reads during the major holidays. But, I overall read all of it all the time. You have a few here that I’d really like to get to myself. Hope you enjoy them all!!

I’m not sure I could handle living where it feels like summer all year! Of course, I’m also not a fan of living in a place where the air hurts my face in the winter. I hope you enjoy reading them all. And thanks for stopping by earlier!

Great list, Dini! I’m dying to get my hands on Foul Days, it sounds so brilliant. You’ve also reminded me that I have to re read The Jasmine Throne/Oleander Sword so I’m up to date for book three… I can’t wait 😊😊

I’m only really a seasonal reader in the autumn, though lately I’ve been trying to get in the winter mood by reading winter-themed books in cold months too. (It doesn’t work as well as autumn books for me.)
I hope you enjoy these books!

I’m not much of a seasonal reader, mainly because I have so much on my TBR & tend to gravitate towards fantasy 😂 I do majorly want to get Jasmine Throne read before the finale comes out though. And have Castle In Their Bones & another of Adrienne Tooleys books as high priority on my tbr too. That cover for Second Son is gorgeous 😍 good luck with your TBR and I hope you find some new favourites from it.
