Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday I’ve finished three books! Don’t know if you can spot a trend here with all the murder-y reads. I guess I’ve been in some kind of mood! 😂

Magic, Lies and Deadly Pies (Pies Before Guys #1) by Misha Popp ★★★½
Didn’t know I needed a cosy mystery series about murder pies but this was great! There’s a slight romance that veered into love triangle territory and I didn’t enjoy it or that character. But this was a murderously good time overall (alas, I’m not smart enough to churn out pie + murder puns)!
Arsenic and Adobo (Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mystery #1) by Mia P. Manansala ★★☆☆☆
I’m still sad about how much I disliked this—the dislike was very strong for me. The MC was not my cuppa and I probably should’ve DNF’d but I was holding out for some character growth! Super sad panda. 🐼
The Only One Left by Riley Sager ★★★★☆
It’s been a hot minute since I read a book by Sager and after this, I’m not sure why?! Sager does creepy atmospheres incredibly well and this was creepy AF. I loved it!

Wrath of the Talon ⇢ 75%
I’m cutting this too close as it’s my stop on the blog tour tomorrow and I’m planning to finish this tonight! Aah, time management hasn’t been great lately thanks to poor health. That said, this sequel is awesome—I truly love to see obvious growth in an author’s writing! 😍 I have a feeling the ending of this book is going to break me… Quite possibly, highly likely, big maybe? 🤭

I’ve got a couple of blog tour reads coming up but I’ll get to them after my current “palate cleanser” read!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

So glad you’re enjoying Wrath of the Talon! I’m super curious about this series. Can’t wait for your review tomorrow. 😀

As someone who liked but didn’t love the first book, I’m so happy the second book worked out for me—even more so than I expected! 😃 It’s a very dark series but it’s great!

Hmm, one of my besties recommended Arsenic and Adobo to me, so now I’m curious where I’ll fall with it. My other bestie loved The Only One Left. Glad that one worked for you.

Ali, I honestly thought I would love Arsenic and Adobo and I know I’m very much in minority with my feelings for it, I think. No one is more bummed than me when I realised this was not gonna be the book for me cos I’ve been looking forward to reading it for years 😭 I hope you enjoy it if you give it a try!

It’s a gorgeous cover for sure! So much angry girl energy and it’s depicted in the story as well. 😂

Ooh, I still haven’t got back around to reading Voyage of the Damned but I hope to pick it up soon. Very soon! And like you said, I hope we both enjoy it 😃 Happy reading, Tessa!

I struggled with Wrath of the Talon 😭 I loved the first book but idk why this one is such a slog to get through. Maybe it’s because I’m currently hooked to a tv show, but I do think it’s so much darker than the first book so it’s a bit harder to read through 😭

Ah, no! I’m sorry to hear you struggled with Wrath of the Talon. It was actually the total opposite for me, where I struggled with Last of the Talons, so I guess maybe that’s why I ended up loving this so much? I don’t know. I agree it is SO much darker, even if the first book was already dark. This definitely takes it up a few notches but I think that’s also why I loved it more because I felt it more sincerely in the writing? But I get why that could make it harder to read!

I agree, it’s a great cover! It’s so frustrating when I think I time everything well and… it turns out I was very wrong 😂 These past few months have been wonky on that front, for sure!

Dini we absolutely need to sort out our buddy read for Storm of Locusts… I’m just hoping we don’t get another cliffhanger-y ending!
