Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @Book Nook Bits, and it’s where we get to discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts! Check out the April 2024 Topics if you want to join in the bookish discussion fun.
This week’s topic is actually a Freebie so I’m doing last week’s topic and answering:
Earth Day Book Recs
Prompts: It’s (almost) Earth Day! What are some nature-y books you recommend? Are there any books you’ve read recently about climate, or about the planet in general? How about books with nature-related covers?
Off the top of my head, I don’t think I’ve read many books with a nature-y theme but there are a few that spring to mind. Some of these books are so atmospheric it feels like nature is its own character. Some are post-apocalyptic where we can see the devastating consequences of how humans have treated our planet. Others are books where the natural elements play a big role in the characters’ lives—whether that’s their love for nature, their jobs, or the setting of the story. All of them are from a range of genres: thrillers, fantasy, romance, contemporary, children’s books, and graphic novels.
Here are (more than) a few that I’ve loved and would recommend to readers:
Do you read a lot of books with a nature-y theme? What books of an environmental nature would you recommend for Earth Day? Have you read any of these or are they on your TBR?
I can think of Roar by Cora Carmack! I don’t think I have read many.

I think I remember reading your review for this and thinking it sounded really interesting. I still haven’t read it but I’ll have to check my TBR now 😂

I need to re-read it to continue with the rest of the series! I do remember it being deeply atmospheric 🙂

The Simple Wild and The Great Alone are great recs for Earth Day. Same with Bend Toward the Sun.

Enjoy the View, The Simple Wild, and Bend Towards the Sun were all so good. Bend Towards the Sun fits nicely with ecological things. The first book I thought of was The Last Cuentista because it was about climate and whatnot.

I agree! I’d just finished Bend Toward the Sun when I made this list and found it so perfect with how much Rowan loves nature 🙂 Ooh, have I heard of The Last Cuentista? Sounds familiar so I’m going to check it further.

The ones I can think of is a series of Christian cozy mysteries, each set in a different National park back when they were being established. There were three books by Karen Barnett.
