#WWWWednesday: 20 March 2024

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

It’s almost been a full month since I’ve done one of these so I’m just going to highlight the historical romances that I started bingeing when I left Japan. Since two weeks ago I’ve managed to finish five books and I’ve discovered a new favourite historical romance author in the process! 😍

Tempting the Earl (Wright Bastards #1) by Amy Sandas ★★★★☆
I love Ainsworth’s cynicism and Colin’s earnestness. I love how they come to slowly open up and see beneath each other’s “public personas”—it was sweet and delightfully hot!

Enticing the Devil (Wright Bastards #2) by Amy Sandas ★★★½
Beynon is the gruff MMC of my dreams and Anne was his sweet, sympathetic opposite. Their chemistry was incendiary but I would’ve liked this more if they’d spent more time together on the page!

Olivia and the Masked Duke (Lady Charlotte’s Society of Angels #1) by Grace Callaway ★★★★☆
Yes, this is a historical “Charlie’s Angels” book and I loved the romance & the mystery/action. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Livy & Hadleigh’s taboo age-gap romance but the way their relationship goes from deep-rooted friendship and trust to steamy love was handled well, I think!

Pippa and the Prince of Secrets (Lady Charlotte’s Society of Angels #2) by Grace Callaway ★★★★☆
Pippa and Cullen were so great together! I loved how she bloomed with him and how he was an absolute simp who’d do anything for her. Their amazing chemistry led to some wow steamy moments. Plus, I loved the Mud Larks too!

Fiona and the Enigmatic Earl (Lady Charlotte’s Society of Angels #3) by Grace Callaway ★★★★½
My favourite in the series so far. This was quite steamy from the go but Callaway writes the evolution of their marriage of convenience so well! They both have a lot of fear & insecurity to work through but it’s handled well and by the third act, you see how much they’ve grown.

The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot ⇢ 10%

I think this is going to be my new commute read. Not sure how wise that decision is since I have a feeling this will make me weepy but let’s see when I get further into it!

The Wolf and the Wildflower ⇢ 6%

I’m not very far in but I’m curious to see where this’ll go. It has an interesting premise and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it on romance Twitter since the end of last year.

I’m struggling a bit to get back into a reading groove and it’s making me feel a bit slumpy. Let’s see where my mood takes me after this!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

    • This makes me glad that I have the ebook for The First Binding so I don’t know how chunky it is (I also can’t remember the page count, lol). But by the way, I’ve been meaning to message you about the book we talked about buddy reading. What was the book and where did we talk about it? LOL 😂 If you’re still up for a buddy read, let me know!

      • Yeah. It is a monster. I get anxiety every time I look at it. lol. I’ve seen lots of people love it, though. So, at least it is a lovable monster. 🙂

I think we were going to read The Starless Sea. I’m honestly not sure where we talked about it. lol. I’m happy to start whenever. I’m in my mood reading era. So, all of my plans are flexible.

        • It does have great reviews but I’m still glad that I can’t physically see the size of this chonkster 😂 I ended up getting the audiobook to go with it so hopefully that helps too!

Also, Starless Sea! Omg, where the heck did we talk about it I’m so confused. But mood reading era, ftw! I haven’t checked whether it can fit a prompt for the Magical Readathon but I was thinking maybe we can read it in April (unless your schedule is already packed, but if not then maybe May)? Let me know what works for ya! I’ll DM you too, lol.

  1. Looks like the historical romances hit the spot for you. I think you may shed some tears during Margot and Lenni. It’s not just in the present either. They went through some tough stuff in their pasts. I hope you enjoy it.

  2. Always in the mood for a good Historical romance, and it looks like you’ve found a great new series. I tried reading The First Binding a few weeks ago but had to put it down, it’s a very dense read. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it 🙂
