#TopTenTuesday: New-to-Me Authors Discovered in 2023

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2023.

I was actually really looking forward to this topic because there were a lot of new-to-me authors that I read in 2023 and it was nice to look back and see exactly which ones they were! I should note that I purposely didn’t include debut authors on this list because, of course, they’d be new to everyone! I’m hoping in 2024 I’ll read more new-to-me BIPOC authors because I want to diversify my reads more.

Diana Quincy
Sangu Mandanna

Sarah MacLean
F.T. Lukens
Cathy Yardley

T. Kingfisher
Dria Andersen
N.G. Peltier
Mazey Eddings
Olivia Atwater

Have you read any of these authors? Were they also new to you last year? Who were some of your favourite new-to-me authors from 2023?

  1. You make a good point about excluding debut authors… I didn’t consider that in mine lol. I didn’t realize Cathy Yardley has so many other books!! I read Role Playing as well and enjoyed it, good reminder to check out her others. OMG — also just realized I’ve actually read another book by her without having even realized?? xD

Here’s my post for this week!

    • I don’t know if Yardley has a very extensive backlist but I do know at least three of her other romances that I’ve had on my radar for… A while 😂 What book of hers did you already read? Was it the Gouda one? LOL (I don’t know but this feels dejavu-y)

      • She has like at least 20 novels and a lot of graphic novels or comics that I think she compiled with other authors. I read love comment subscribe and was actually really into it! The Gouda one is intriguing by that description though lol

        • Wowowow, graphic novels!? I need to find out more about this! 😍 I’ve had Love Comment Subscribe on my TBR for way too long, don’t know why I keep waffling on picking it up. I also can’t wait to read the Gouda one cos it’s puntastic, lol.

  2. Sangu Mandanna is on my list of authors to try this year! I think that The Seventh Bride might have been my first T. Kingfisher novel, too, though it was several years ago now. I hope you enjoy finding more of her work! Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier, and happy reading!

    • I HADN’T! I don’t know why I kept putting off reading them for so long but I loved the two books I read by them last year and I can’t wait to read more. Also, I want to read more more more Kingfisher but also, being a bit pickier with that cos we know I’m a total scaredy… 😂

      • Kingfisher doesn’t write a ton of horror! Just a few titles. Most of their titles are actually fantasy, which I think you’d really enjoy. 🙂 Swordheart is romantasy, and A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking is a really adorable middle grade!
