#WWWWednesday: 17 January 2024

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish five books and DNF one. Sadly, there were no 5-star reads this week but I read two very emotionally charged and impactful books!

Into Their Woods (The Eerie #1) by Ivy Asher, Ann Denton ★★★¼
This was a random “by accident” find while on KU searching for “there/their/they’re” titles, but I’m not mad about it. I enjoyed this even if there could’ve been much more world-building! I’m excited to read the next book to see what happens next with the den.

There There by Tommy Orange ★★★½
This was so hard to review but it packed a powerful punch. The writing style wasn’t 100% for me but I loved the way Orange wove a brilliant tapestry. Check out my review!

The Lost Sentinel #1 & #2 by Ivy Asher ★★★☆☆ & ★★½
This didn’t really work for me. The first book somehow read like a filler but I enjoyed it enough and was curious to see if book two would make it worth continuing. Though I enjoyed finally learning more about the world and magic system, it went bonkers very quickly and it just wasn’t for me! 🤭

The Places I’ve Cried in Public by Holly Bourne ★★★¾
This was an absolutely gutting read. I felt so helpless watching Amelie lose herself. It’s a heartbreaking but important YA contemporary that examines healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Forged by Magic ⇢ 30%

This has made it on several possibility piles since last year but after waffling on what to read next for a day or two, I decided to stick with this and I’m quite enjoying it. It’s shaping up to be a fun enemies-to-lovers cosy-ish fantasy romance and I’m keen to see where it goes!

Plus, this cover? J’adore! 😍

I’m going to start a buddy read for Divine Rivals soon but as for the rest, it’ll be entirely dependent on my mood!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

  1. Enjoy your current read! I really loved Divine Rivals, but the Ruthless Vows kind of left me wanting more. It ended up being a 3-3.5 star read. I’m really sad about that lol.

    • I’m so bummed to hear that you didn’t enjoy Ruthless Vows as much. I just finished Divine Rivals today and about to start Ruthless Vows so I’m a bit worried by the mixed reviews and also for the angst?! (I’m assuming it will be v. angsty but maybe I’m wrong, lol). DR was AMAZING though!

  2. You had an awesome week, even if you had a DNF and no 5 star reads! I think your current read looks so cozy! I am so excited to start Divine Rivals!! I can’t wait to see what all this hype is about. Ready when you are!! ❤ Have a wonderful week, Dini!

    • I loved Divine Rivals. Just finished it this morning (it’s Sunday now) and OH MY FEELINGS. So many feelings. I’m about to start Ruthless Vows although I’m wondering if I should read a romance or something to bolster my mood cos I have a feeling it’s gonna be a heartbreaking and angsty read 😂 I can’t wait to get to it though!
