#TopTenTuesday: My Favourite Books of 2023

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Favorite Books of 2023.

Happy New Year, everyone! Can you believe it’s time to remember it’s a new year already when writing the date? As usual, I’m going to have to remind myself constantly for a couple of weeks at least. 😂 But I digress.

2023 was… A YEAR. My reading was greatly affected by the many mental health lows I went through and as a result, I feel like it was a very “mid” reading year. Honestly, I’ve already forgotten a lot of what I’ve read and my brain isn’t discriminating between 5-star and lower reads! 🤦🏻‍♀️ On that note, based on ratings, these were 11 of my favourites from 2023 (starting from the most recent to the earliest reads).

Song of Silver, Flame Like Night
Role Playing
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches
Shucked
Castles in their Bones

The Dead Romantics
Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake
Untethered Sky
The Six Deaths of the Saint
Seven Percent of Ro Devereux
Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute

Did you read any of these books in 2023? Did any of these also make your favourite reads list? What were some of your favourite reads from last year? I can’t wait to check your lists out! 😍

  1. Lovely list! I’m reading Song of Silver at the moment-waited until the second book is out to binge on the whole duology…I’m really glad to see it made your top ten list. Happy New Year! Wishing you lots of joy, happiness, and 5-star-reads all way through.

    • I hope you’re enjoying it! It took a little while for the book to grow on me but by the end I loved it 😍 And I thought the second book was a satisfying conclusion to the duology! Happy New Year and wishing you lots of joy, happiness and amazing reads, too! ✨

    • Honestly, I had to keep looking back to my read list to see what books I had read! 😂 My brain was just not in it but I did love these books. YAY for Ro—I think it’s so underrated and defo deserves more love. I can’t wait to read the next Castles book. Buddy read, maybe?! I hope 2024 will be amazing for both of us, Leslie! 💜

      • Yeah, I’m shocked that I don’t see Ro around more. It’s such a wonderful book. I have seen it on like one other list but that’s it. Yes!! Let’s do it. We read the first book and should definitely read the second. Also, we need to read the next Murderbot together since we’ve done the whole series so far. :):)

        • Honestly, SAME! I was wondering if it was like the circles of the bird app I’m part of and the genres of blogs I follow since I’m not on other socials much, but STILL. Such a shame cos it’s such a fantastic debut and I can’t wait to read more by the author 😍 YES! I can’t wait to do our Murderbot BR! Let me know whenever you wanna do that!

          • Yeah, I’m wondering the same. Although, I still see so many reading YA so IDK. Maybe it didn’t get good marketing. Either way, I can’t wait to read more by her too! Okay!! I really want to get a couple more arcs finished and then I should be good to go. I haven’t been approved for any arcs past February!! lol

  2. Happy new year! I’m totally with you on having to look at my ratings to remind myself what I loved last year! The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches was cute and I’m looking forward to her next book this year. I might get round to Role Playing in 2024 too.

    • I’m so excited for Mandanna’s next book this year! It looks and sounds very cute and like another perfectly cosy witchy romance 🙂 I also hope you love Role Playing if you read it this year and have a wonderful 2024 filled with amazing reads!

  3. Role Playing was really so good! I enjoyed it a lot, too. Dead Romantics and The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches are both on my TBR, so hopefully I’ll enjoy them as much as you did!

Happy 2024, and thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier!

  4. Oh gee– I am sorry to hear you had a bummer year in 2023. Here’s hoping that 2024 is an improvement and that you find the right combination of activities and health care to return to a healthy mental state.

Keep on blogging and staying in touch!

    Happy New Year.

  6. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches hit my radar recently so I’m glad you enjoyed it! I loved Ashley Poston’s Once Upon a Con series but haven’t read The Dead Romantics yet. I hope you have fewer mental health lows in 2024 and a better reading year!
