#TopTenTuesday: Popular Authors that I Still Have Not Read

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Mainstream Popular Authors that I Still Have Not Read (Submitted by Rissa)

I’m not sure if we have or haven’t done this topic before but it seems familiar. That said, there is no dearth of popular authors that I still have not read so this was an easy one. That said, the picks in terms of mainstream popularity would depend on what genre people are looking at because I think it will differ based on that. What’s popular for literary fiction readers won’t necessarily be popular for fantasy/romance readers, etc. I read a pretty eclectic mix of books though and I think that’s reflected in the authors I’ve highlighted in this post!

N.K. Jemisin
Emma Lord
Brit Bennett
Yaa Gyasi
Ocean Vuong

Pierce Brown
Rebecca Ross
Chanel Cleeton
Abby Jimenez
Allison Shaft

Do you think these authors have mainstream popularity as well? Have you read their books or are they also still on your TBR?

  1. I’ve had N.K. Jemisin’s The Fifth Season has been on my TBR for ages! I recently (this year) bought a physical copy and aim to read my unboxed books (I live with my grandma, so most of my books are in boxes) before the end of the year. I hope to read this one soon!

  2. Ocean Vyong and N.K. Jemisin are two authors I’ve been determined to read and haven’t done so yet! I’ve heard such great things about them though!

  3. Jimenez is a favorite of mine. Every one of her books was fantastic in my eyes. I love Lord too. I think Tweet Cute is still my favorite, but she has an adult book coming out early next year which sounds great.

  5. I totally agree with your comment, Dini. What constitutes a “popular” or “mainstream” author. I didn’t do this week’s prompt for that reason. I have read at least one book from so many authors. As I look at your list, there are 5 I have not read. N.K. Jemisin, Yaa Gyasi, Ocean Vuong, Pierce Brown and Rebecca Ross, although I have Yaa Gyasi on both audiobook and ebook to read when I get a chance. Nice list, Dini.
