I’ve been looking for a spooky season-themed and easy book tag to do for a while now and I finally found it when I saw Ashlee @Books Are 42 post the 👻 Trick or Treat Round the Block Book Tag! 🎃 Now, you know I don’t read much of the spooky stuff and the last time I went trick-or-treating was back in high school way too many years ago…! 😂 But this still looked like too much fun to pass up so here we go with it.
This tag was originally created by The Bookish Porcupine.

Creepy house on the corner of the street:
Book with a creepy cover

Honestly, I’m a total weenie but this cover for Rules for Vanishing gives me chills every time. Help 😭
Lights out (party poopers):
A book you want to read when you want to escape

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is one of my more recent reads but it’s definitely the kind of book I love to read when I want an escape, even if it’s set in the real world.
The house that gives out the cheap candy:
Guilty pleasure book

I don’t really prescribe to the idea of “guilty pleasure” books because to each their own! But if I had to choose something it’d maybe be a book of the smuttier variety but also with lots of feel-good bantery fun. Like the Stay A Spell series!
The house with the best decorations on the block:
Best haunting/Halloween-themed cover

I struggled with this because I don’t have many haunting/Halloween-themed covers on my shelf! Honestly, I’m a total weenie but this cover for Rules for Vanishing still haunts me now, lol. Help 😭
The house that gives out the best candy:
#1 Halloween recommendation
Listen, I don’t really have a #1 Halloween rec but I can give a few suggestions? None that are *really* creepy or horror or spooky, etc.

SPEED ROUND
Corn Maze or Haunted House?
Corn maze! You can quick escape through the stalks but not through a wall!
Classic or Unique Costume?
I love a unique costume!
Sexy or Scary Costume?
I always used to go scary!
Comedy or Horror Halloween Film?
The answer is very obviously COMEDY. I don’t do the horror tings. 🥹
Chocolate or Sour Candy?
Really tough choice! I’m gonna go for chocolate though cos I only love sour cola bottles!

That’s it for this tricky or treaty tag! I won’t be tagging anyone but feel free to grab! Are we Halloween-compatible? 🎃

I only read one book on this list (Irregular Witches), but it was a great one and definitely a great escape

Yes, a super wonderful escape. I can’t wait to re-read it again. I asked my bestie from the UK to get me a physical copy to bring with her when she came to visit last week and I’m so happy I have it on my shelf now! 😍

I couldn’t choose between haunted house and corn maze because both can be creepy. There’s farm not too far from me that does a haunted corn maze. That’s right out of my nightmares! I loved reading this tag. If I have time, I’m going to try to do it next week.

I feel like corn mazes would just be easier to trample out of, y’ know? No walls locking you inside with the scaries 😂 But I hope to never find myself in either of said places, haha. I hope you have fun doing this one if you give it a go!

This looks like such a fun spooky Book Tag! 👻 I loved Rules for Vanishing, it was one of the first YA Horror books I read and it creeped me out so much 😱 I need to reread Cemetery Boys, I loved it so much ❤️

It’s usually always a hard pass on the scaries for me so I still can’t believe I picked up Rules for Vanishing but despite being scared out of my mind, I really enjoyed it. Won’t be reading it again though, thanks, lol! 😂 I feel like I need to re-read Cemetery Boys at some point too since it’s confirmed there’s gonna be a second book! 😍
