#23for23: A Possibility Pile

In last week’s TTT post, I shared a list of 20 recommendations for the #23for23 reading challenge. Today, I’m sharing a possibility pile for what I hope to read to fulfil the challenge by the end of the year! But before we dive into this long list of possibilities, what is this challenge that I speak of?

I first heard about it on the Fated Mates podcast episode that brought the author Nikki Payne on to talk about it. The goal here is simple: read 23 books by BIPOC authors with BIPOC characters before the end of 2023.

DID YOU KNOW?

MISSION: The 23for23 initiative amplifies and elevates marginalized voices in publishing by promoting, showcasing, and celebrating the works of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color dedicated to telling stories that center marginalized identities.

While it’s always my goal to read more diversely, I’m excited to take part in this challenge to spend the remaining months of the year specifically amplifying marginalised voices. Although a lot of the books on the #23for23 website are romance recommendations, I don’t think it’s strictly limited to this genre—any book by BIPOC authors with BIPOC characters should be given the spotlight!

Having said that, most of the books that are already on my TBR are actually adult romances (lol, surprise) but my list of possibilities will include a few young adult reads too. On that note, let’s get to this list…

Note: I’ve linked book covers to the Goodreads pages

There are so many other possibilities to tempt me but these are the high hopefuls! Are you also joining the #23for23 challenge or does it sound like something you’re interested in? Don’t forget to use the hashtag on socials whenever you post about it! What books by BIPOC authors with BIPOC characters would you recommend?

    • HAHA, you’re so real for this. My moods would defo be one of the key factors for why I won’t be able to accomplish this—IF I don’t accomplish this—so I hope it’ll be on its best behaviour 😂 I can’t wait to read Hani and Ishu cos I loved Jaigirdar’s debut! Excited to dive into all the books and hopefully, eventually, review them too lolz

    • I found it pretty shocking too! I knew the numbers were low/bad but I didn’t realise it was 0! I’ve only read one of Williams’ books but I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to finally read a book by Nisha Sharma! I hope I love it 🙂 Thanks, Sam!

  2. I love this! And best of luck fitting in 23 books before the end of the year, I set up a list of 23 books in January and I am only half way through the list now 🙈
I love the reason behind this and I was shocked at the statistics at the top, especially the bestsellers list one!

I am not a big romance reader, but I have read The Stand In And That Time I Got Drunk and Saved A Demon. I thoroughly enjoyed both of them 😍
One book I really hope to get to is Open Water. I’ve heard nothing but good things!
    Happy Reading 💜

  3. That sounds like such a great reading challenge! ❤️ I have been tempted to check out That Time I Got Drunk and Saved A Demon as I’ve been hearing that it’s a super fun book 👀 I also need to read The Neighbor Favor, I was so excited for it, but never got around to reading it!
