#WWWWednesday: 27 September 2023

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday, I’ve finished three books. Let’s just say that it’s a very random mix! 😂

A Prayer for Vengeance by Leanne Schwartz ★★★☆☆
This wasn’t a bad read but maybe my 3-star review skewed a bit too much on the negative. I really loved the rep and I thought the setting was great. It’s action-packed but it often also felt too slow of a read. Overall, it wasn’t bad and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s interested in the premise because it does deliver on it!

Sweet Addiction by J. Daniels ★★★☆☆
I have very mixed feelings about this one. If you’re looking for a no-thoughts-just-smut-vibes type of romance then look no further because there is great chemistry, lots of angst and all the steam! It’s definitely the kind of book that you shouldn’t take too seriously and that you shouldn’t think too hard about. It’s very horny and over the top, especially with the characterisations.

Alex Wise vs. the End of the World by Terry J. Benton-Walker ★★★★½
Benton-Walker is a new-to-me author and I really enjoyed his MG debut. This was emotional, action-packed, intense, and so entertaining. I couldn’t put it down (until I had to because work, boo). I loved the sibling bond between Alex and Mags, the best friendships, and the found family vibes. I also adored Alex’s journey toward loving and accepting himself. A great read and recommendation for readers of all ages!

I’m honestly a little bit all over the place with my reading right now because my mood has been a bit wonky with work being quite busy and stressful and my struggle to get to sleep (and then stay asleep) every night. I’m mood-reading on hard mode right now, lol.

  • The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches24% → It’s finally happening! Tomorrow is a public holiday in Indonesia and I can’t wait to lose myself in this book cos I’m already loving it! 😍
  • Shades of Magic Vol. 1: The Steel Prince30% → I literally saw this GN on KU 1 hour ago and immediately started reading it and of course, immediately fell in love with it.
  • Heartbreaker18% → I didn’t end up coming back to this yet but I hope to this weekend (mood dependent)

Yeah, I didn’t end up returning to Kate Daniels thanks to the Hell’s Belles… But I will!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

  1. Sweet Addiction is one of that series I think gets better as it goes along, if I’m remembering it correctly. Honestly, it’s my least favorite book/series of hers. I prefer her other two over that one. They are much better.
I hope you continue to love Mandanna’s book!

    • Ooh, okay, that’s good to know. Maybe I’ll return to it if I ever find my mood feeling funky and need something random to pick up. Is this her best series or do you have recs for her other series? I didn’t mind her writing just some things didn’t really age well, I think. I *am* loving Mandanna’s book though—it’s SO sweet and giving me all the feels 🥹

  2. It’s funny what you wrote for Witches because I gasped with excitement when I saw the book under currently reading. I am so happy to hear you are enjoying it. Prepare your heart for explosions because it’s such a sweet, feel-good story
