#WWWWednesday: 20 September 2023

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday, I finished two books.

Bombshell (Hell’s Belles #1) by Sarah MacLean ★★★★½
I’ve finally read Sarah MacLean and holy schnitzel, I loved it! 😍 This was such a fun, sexy and smart romp and I can’t wait to read more about these rebellious and powerful women who are here to take down the nasty greedy men of the ton. Sesily and Caleb were a fantastic couple who had incendiary chemistry and a deliciously angsty romance full of pining, and that had me feeling giddy with delight!

Northranger by Rey Terciero, illustrated by Bre Indigo ★★★★½
I don’t know how I didn’t realise this graphic novel was a Northanger Abbey retelling but I loved it! It was spooky, it was funny but it was also heartbreaking and realistic, too. I can’t lie—I cried! 😂 My heart went out to these characters who struggled to be themselves in a place they love and call home because people are racist and bigoted and refuse to know any better. Definitely recommended for beautiful art and a touching story!

  • A Prayer for Vengeance41% → I’m enjoying this but I’m also finding it quite a slog! There’s something about the writing that’s making each scene feel slow and a bit dull when it should be exciting, tense, and action-packed.
  • Heartbreaker18% → I was already loving this but had to put it down to focus on my tour read (👆🏽) and I can’t wait to pick it back up again! SOON. 😍

Yeah, I didn’t end up returning to Kate Daniels thanks to the Hell’s Belles… But I will!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

  1. Do you know I have never read Northanger Abbey, but that was the first book that popped into my head when I saw the title of that graphic novel. I love that these two books are so highly rated by you. MacLean is so popular with the historic romance crowd, and I am delighted your first foray into her work was a good one.

    • I read it so long ago and I don’t remember many of the details except I do remember being thoroughly spooked by the gothic vibes and Northranger really delivered on that. 😂 I’m so glad that I enjoyed my first MacLean and I hope I continue enjoying her historical romances cos they’ve been highly anticipated reads for me!
