Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last week, I finished four books and DNFd one.

Amari and the Great Game (Supernatural Investigations #2) by B. B. Alston ★★★★☆
I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first book but it was still a great sequel! I wanted more of the Great Game but I loved getting more magic school vibes, seeing Amari own her magical abilities, and seeing her overcome all the adversity alongside her friends and unexpected new allies!
The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher ★★★★☆
I’ve been wanting to try Kingfisher’s books for a long time but always thought they were too creepy for me. This was definitely creepy and all the spooky things but it was also really good! I loved the writing, the characters and the audiobook was great. I’d recommend it!
The Doctor and the Devil (Les Dames Dangereuses #3) by Lily Riley ★★★½
A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Something that I’ve said about the previous books as well is that I wished the ending was less rushed and that applied here too. It felt rushed and too ‘easy’ but still, I liked the character arcs and relationship growth and tension!
In a Stranger’s Bed by Sophie Jordan ★★★½
Looking for a short and sexy Goldilocks retelling? This could be the one for you! I enjoyed it for the most part but it’s very instalove and the ending was personally, not my favourite kind of ending so that was kind of “eh” for me.

- A Conjuring of Light → 60% → I haven’t picked this back up yet and so I’m a little behind but loving it still! I love this morally grey villain—he’s so well-written!
- Rival Radio → 62% → Despite enjoying this while reading, I haven’t gone back to it yet cos my mood swiftly changed!
- Love & Resistance → 26% → This is an overdue ARC that I’ve been meaning to start sooner… 🫣 I find the comparison of HS hierarchy with dictatorial governing bodies and the military quite interesting (and unique in a YA contemporary set high school?).
- The Stand-In → 16% → I started this audiobook on a whim yesterday. I love Philippa Soo and although her narration is oddly stilted at times, I’m enjoying the story and find Gracie funny!

Friends, I am in the BIGGEST romance mood and I blame it all on the Fated Mates podcast I’ve been religiously listening to every day post-work while destressing with my cosy games. I just got my digital ARC of Kate Canterbary’s upcoming book Shucked and I am ready to drop everything to read it asap! I’ve also added quite a few new romances to my library so… Romance, full steam ahead (pun definitely intended 😂)!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

I can’t wait to see what you think of Role Playing. Gosh, I miss that book… I definitely need to get to some T. Kingfisher again soon. My library doesn’t have her new one digitally yet though. Hope your week has been going well! 💚

I don’t know why I keep putting off reading the books that I’m sure I will love but that’s what I seem to be doing with Role Playing. Maybe I’ll pick it up tonight 😂 Hope your library gets the new Kingfisher soon and hope you’ve had an awesome week!

When I listen to audiobooks I usually also have a copy of the book either digitally or physically but this time I don’t and it’s admittedly a little hard to focus so I haven’t picked it back up again yet. So far, it’s a fun one though! Hope you enjoy it whenever you pick it up 🙂

I didn’t sign up for an ARC of Shucked and now I’m kicking myself. I hope you love it!

I’ve done ARCs for a long time considering my whacky reading mood but the minute I got the email I ran 😂 Not long to go now until it comes out though!

I am always in the mood for romance. It’s just my favorite thing to read. I swear I am going to be reading Role Playing sometime this month. I’m pretty sure I said this in your post from last week as well or maybe it was someone else’s I’m not really sure lol.

Kingfisher is an author that has always been on my book lists but I’ve only just started picking them up and the spook on The Seventh Bride has absolutely caught my eye.
Also kudos to the wonderfully eye-pleasing covers this week!

Dang, you’ve read a lot of books since last month! I feel like I’m reading so slowly this month even though that’s probably not true at all, lol.

Oops, and by last month I meant to say last week.

Hehe, I was confused for a second but I figured you meant week! To be fair, two of these books were less than 200 pgs but I am glad that I feel like reading more these days 🙂

Glad to hear you enjoyed The Seventh Bride, Kingfisher does horror so well and almost makes them a kind of cozy horror (if that’s a thing lol), I have it on my TBR, so I’m excited to pick it up now 😀

Okay, cosy horror definitely sounds like what The Seventh Bride felt like to me? 😂 Do her other books get a lot creepier? Her books are so well loved and I’ve been curious about them but have always thought I’d be too creeped out, lol.

I’ve only read one horror which was The House With Good Bones which definitely veered towards cosy horror. I think it’s the humour she adds to the stories that take that deep fear away 😂. But her other works are just cosy fantasy in general and are amazing.
