Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish 2 books.

Bohemian by Kathryn Nolan ★★★☆☆
While this wasn’t bad, it didn’t end up grabbing me the way I hoped it would. The story was okay but felt like it dragged on too long because nothing really happens and the character progression was slow. These two had chemistry, and I enjoyed the “quiet bookish MMC” and the “secretly bookish world-famous model” but there wasn’t initially much depth to their connection, which made it feel too insta for my liking. I also admittedly felt pretty bored towards the middle and skimmed a bit!
Academy Arcanist (Astra Academy #1) by Shami Stovall ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed this YA fantasy. The MC might not have been my favourite but the world-building was great and the animal companions were fantastic! CHECK OUT MY REVIEW

- A Gathering of Shadows → 82% → I’m almost done and absolutely loving it! This book sees so much more magic, action, and character development. I can’t wait to dive into the final book.
- Rival Radio → 62% → Wasn’t sure if I was going to keep reading this author but I’m glad that I didn’t give up because I’m really enjoying this! The tension, the hate-lust, the opposites attract work rivals romance energy is just *chefs kiss*—Theo and Daria are! 🔥💜

I have absolutely no clue because of how moody my mood has been lately. I’ve had my eye on a few titles but it could really be anything! 😂

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

That is awesome that you gave the author another chance and it’s working out for you. I love when that happens. Happy reading!

Thanks! Sometimes it pays off like now and sometimes it doesn’t, like earlier this year, lol. Happy reading to you as well!

Did you read the first Amari book? I’ve always thought they looked super cute, but haven’t read either of them yet.

I *adored* the first Amari book! The year I read it I recommended it to everyone who enjoyed MG fantasy. 😂 I’ve been eagerly anticipating the second book but unsurprisingly, still haven’t got around to it. I’m lowkey tempted to do a re-read of the first book before picking it up because memory fail… Might you be interested in a buddy read perhaps? 👀 Haha

Yes! Let’s do it. When would you want to start the first book?

I’ve been wanting to dip my toes into the YA world and Academy Arcanist and Something More look promising! Great list!
I hope you enjoy you continue to enjoy your current reads and have a great rest of your week! 💚

Ooh, there are so many good ones in the YA world. Academy Arcanist defo could be a good starting point for fantasy. Have you read any of V.E. Schwab’s YA? I’m re-reading her Darker Shades of Magic series now and now that I’m reading it again I do feel it’s little more on the “NA” side of YA but perhaps a good starting point for slowly dipping toes in. But again, lots of awesome YA out there 😃 I hope you find something that you enjoy! Have a great week too and happy reading! 🌻

I hear stories like this, and I try to convince myself to give authors another chance. Glad it paid off for you

I think I do this mostly when I find romances that start off well and I’m immediately pulled in but yet the payoff isn’t what I expect or want, but I see there’s potential to be something I love. Like, I’m chasing that *almost there* factor 😂 and sometimes I’m disappointed (like how I ended up feeling with Melanie Harlow’s books) but sometimes, like with Rival Radio, it seems to be paying off!

The first book of hers I read was Strictly Professional which I thought was cute if not totally different from what I expected. But by the end, it didn’t fully wow me the way I thought it would at the start. I’d seen Bohemian mentioned on romance booktwt a bit earlier this year (I think) which I only realised when I picked it up, lol. If you do check her out, I hope you enjoy the books! 🙂

It was fun! The MC was a little too annoying at times but not enough to detract from my enjoyment of the read, lol

“How moody my mood has been lately” is so relatable. I’ve found my mood reading being more moody again lately, too.

It’s *such* a mood. I feel like my mood has been getting moodier too as the year has gone on! 🫣 I hope, for both of us, that it changes soon, lol.

My mood had started to calm down a bit, but something kicked it back into high gear. Oh well! I will change again sooner or later…

LOL! I don’t like rollercoasters much in real life, but book rollercoasters are fun. 😉

Ooh, new covers? 👀 I didn’t realise that there were new covers! I’m off to check out what they look like, lol. I hope you love the series! I’m a big fan of Schwab’s writing—she writes stories that are so easy to read and sink into. 😍
