Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [177]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be wrapping up my Sunday in bed still reading Reggie and Delilah’s Year of Falling by Elise Bryant. This is a cute coming-of-age contemporary romance between two messy but well-meaning teens. I like both of them a lot and although reading about their slightly misguided but entirely teenage decision-making makes me anxious sometimes, I’m enjoying their story!

📖 SYNOPSIS

Delilah always keeps her messy, gooey insides hidden behind a wall of shrugs and yeah, whatevers. She goes with the flow—which is how she ends up singing in her friends’ punk band as a favor, even though she’d prefer to hide at the merch table.

Reggie is a D&D Dungeon Master and self-declared Blerd. He spends his free time leading quests and writing essays critiquing the game under a pseudonym, keeping it all under wraps from his disapproving family.

These two, who have practically nothing in common, meet for the first time on New Year’s Eve. And then again on Valentine’s Day. And then again on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s almost like the universe is pushing them together for a reason.

Delilah wishes she were more like Reggie—open about what she likes and who she is, even if it’s not cool. Except… it’s all a front. Reggie is just role-playing someone confident. The kind of guy who could be with a girl like Delilah.

As their holiday meetings continue, the two begin to fall for each other. But what happens once they realize they’ve each fallen for a version of the other that doesn’t really exist?

What are you currently reading?

Well, hello! I’m back…? It’s been… A really rough time since I took a hiatus a little over a week ago and while I didn’t enjoy not reading or blogging, it turns out that I really needed the break because my brain just couldn’t handle it. The work stress isn’t entirely over yet but the worst part of it is (I really hope I’m not speaking too soon, lol), so I took Friday off because I was feeling and definitely looking worse for wear. I’m still feeling pretty zapped of energy now and haven’t been reading much because there’s this pervasive air of anxiety and adrenaline that hasn’t entirely worn off, and I don’t really expect it to until the end of the month.

My brain waves are still very much at low levels and so I’ve been enjoying cosy gaming a lot more these days. I dove back into my favourite Zelda and after two days, when I started to feel tempted to start from scratch again, I started playing Cozy Grove and Dreamlight Valley instead. Both have been super fun with simple quests and cute graphics and entirely what I’ve needed.

I’m loathed to acknowledge that today is Sunday and it’s back to the grind tomorrow. It’s been rougher than expected to get back into the swing of doing the things I love when my energy is so low but I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who left supportive comments and reached out to me via DM. I APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH! 💜

On books: Surprisingly, I managed to finish two books over the last few days. My first read of the month was a middle-grade fantasy and the second book I finished this morning was one I started weeks ago and only just now got around to picking up again. Thankfully, I really enjoyed both and my review for the book I finished this morning will go up tomorrow!

On blogging: Save for one or two posts that I scheduled in advance, it has obviously been very quiet on the blogging front since I went on hiatus. I’m going to try to start getting back into blogging (and reading) this week but I’m still going to take it easy-ish because I know my brain isn’t 100% up to it yet. 🙏🏽 Hopefully, this feeling will pass soon cos I’m tired of feeling this way. 😮‍💨 Thanks for sticking around and bearing with me in the mean time!

ICYMI, here’s what I posted since the last Sunday post:

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

  1. Glad to hear things are a bit better. I hope the situation continues to improve. Some gaming is good for the soul. You take care of you. Reggie and Delilah looks cute. I read Bryant’s first book, so I am not surprised to hear it’s cute.

  2. I’m glad you took some time for yourself, Dini. It is hard when things on stressful at work, and I hope this week proves to be less stress for you. Do whatever you need to do in the evenings to relax, and enjoy whatever you choose to do.

  3. Cozy Grove looks cute! I have been meaning to find games that are less time consuming than WoW on days I feel like just relaxing. 😂 Dreamlight Valley is also on my list because it’s Disney and my daughter would love it too. I still haven’t read a book by Elise Bryant but she is on my tbr. Glad you are back! ❤️
