#TopTenTuesday: Popular/Hyped Books I Haven’t Read (Yet…)!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is actually Top Ten Favorite Words (This isn’t so much bookish, but I thought it would be fun to share words we love! These could be words that are fun to say, sound funny, mean something great, or make you smile when you read/hear them.)

If you haven’t already guessed by this post’s title, I’m going rogue this TTT! Although I can’t find it in my archive, I feel like I’ve already done this ‘favourite words’ topic before but honestly, I also wasn’t really feeling this topic today so I went for something a little different… Today I’m looking at very popular/hyped books that I still haven’t read—yet, but they’re all on my TBR! I say popular/hyped because I’ve seen these books (and/or authors) receive a lot of buzz in recent years throughout all platforms in the book community, but of course, it’s possible you might not know these books if you don’t read in these genres! That said, I think I’ve got a pretty good mix here, so before I go off on a tangent, let’s get to the books.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alex E. Harrow
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao
Educated by Tara Westover
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Becoming by Michelle Obama
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden

I also just realised how similar the covers of these titles are in terms of colour. Quite matchy-matchy! 👀

Have you heard of these popular/hyped books? Have you read them or are they also still on your TBR? What are other popular titles you still haven’t read?

    • Ooh, I’m so glad to hear that. I’ve seen quite a few mixed reviews after hearing a lot of hype about it but I’m excited to read it. If I do end up loving it just as much as everyone else, I’ll be glad to have picked it up when the trilogy has already been completed 😂

    • Oh, sorry to hear that you didn’t love these! But I have seen some mixed reviews, especailly for Starless Sea but Educated has so much hype around it! I might give it a try and see if it vibes since I do have the books on hand already 😂

    • Ooh, interesting! I honestly can’t recall anyone saying one bad thing about Ove before so I’m glad to know that there are people out there who’ve tried and didn’t jive with the book 😂

  1. I loved Addie La Rue, The Starless Sea, and House of Earth and Blood. I’m reading The Ten Thousand Doors of January Right now, and I’m loving it. Here is my post-https://paigesofnovels.wordpress.com/2022/10/18/top-ten-tuesday-words-in-summaries-that-will-make-me-pick-up-a-book/.

  2. Ooh I hope you like The Starless Sea. It wasn’t really for me but it was well written, and I think I’m in the minority. 🙂 I really want to read Ten Thousand as well, I’ve heard it’s great.

    • I’ve definitely seen a few mixed reviews for it so you’re not the only one who didn’t enjoy it as much. It’s still quite a hyped title though! I got the audiobook which I hope will help immerse me in the world but I have read Night Circus by this author—and that’s even more hyped!—but I found that I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else did. So I’m going in with lowered expectations for sure!

  3. I’ve read EDUCATED and THE BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE. They’re both very good and The Winternight trilogy easily became a favorite. 😀 I’d love to read most of the other books on your list as well. Thanks for stopping by!

    • I’ve heard a lot of great things about The Winternight Trilogy and even though there’s no winter here, I feel like I definitely want to save reading that book for the holiday season. I’m hoping to start/finish the trilogy this December! 😃

  4. I have read or listened to five of these. The Bear and Nightingale trilogy was really good and I enjoyed them. I read the Thousand Doors of January for a zodiac challenge and I was surprised at how much I love it. I have also enjoyed Educated, Becoming and I constantly recommend A Man Called Ove. I wonder when you will get to any of these, Sam. Great list.

  5. I’ve read A Man Called Ove. It was alright but nothing special in my opinion. But I absolutely loved Becoming. I recommend it to anyone. She is such an inspiration for all of us.

Thanks for visiting my TTT this week which is about my favourite names of places, locations that sound like a dream.

    • Ooh, glad to hear that you enjoyed the Crescent City book! I was so excited to get my hands on it ASAP when it first came out and then.. I never got around to reading it because hype makes me nervous 😂 I hope I enjoy it too whenever I get around to it!

  6. I need to read Ten Thousand Doors and Iron Widow too! I love this topic and I should just do this every time I want to change topics. LOL! I have so many books that I want to read or planned to read and haven’t gotten to them.

    • I think I remember deciding that we should do a buddy read for both 10K Doors and Iron Widow. 😂 I’m still totally down for that especially since I don’t have any blog tours planned for the rest of the year and only ARCs to focus on. So… Whenever you want to—if you still want to—let me know and we can tackle these beasties together! 😍

      • Yeah, I know we had said that about so many!! I would totally still love to buddy read them. I know I have to read 10k doors for my PopSugar readathon!! I’m focusing on finishing that and reading my 9 BoTM books plus 4 more arcs. I’m reading sooo slowly now. haha

  7. Nice twist, Dini! I’ve only read Educated from your list, but I highly recommend it. Several others are still on my tbr, too. Maybe we’ll get to them someday… 😉
