Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @Book Nook Bits, and it’s where we get to discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts! If you want to join in the bookish discussion fun, check out the July 2022 prompts!

Now without further ado… The topic asks us about:
How are you doing on your reading goals so far this year?
(SUGGESTED BY AMBER @ ESCAPE LIFE IN THE PAGES)
Prompts: Did you set any reading goals for yourself at the beginning of the year? If so, how are you doing with them? Any you’ve already met? Are there any goals you want to add? Did you set any blogging goals? If so, how are you doing with those?

MY 2022 READING/BLOGGING GOALS
The thing with me is that I enjoy setting goals and I love making grand plans for myself but when it comes to 100% follow-through, it doesn’t always go so smoothly. Life happens though and so I’m not trying to be too hard on myself about these things but it’s kinda nice to have something to reflect back on at the end of the year, don’t you think? So in 2022 I set six general reading/blogging goals:
- Read 150 books
- Read 50 backlist titles
- Complete the 2022 Popsugar Reading Challenge
- Fill in my Library Tracker (for my owned digital and physical books)
- Grow my blog to 800 followers
- Start my re-read project (aka the “dinipanda(re)reads project“)
I’m sort of close to achieving three of these goals right now so I’m pretty chuffed about that but I think for now I’ll keep it as it is. If anything, I’ll probably modify the goals that I manage to achieve before the year ends depending on my mood and how much time is left. Now, let’s take a little deeper dive into each goal…
Buckle up, folks, this might be a bit of a long one!

read 150 books
This is my Goodreads Reading Challenge and until now I’ve read 131 of 150 books. I think if I continue reading at my current (slower) pace, I might be able to achieve it in the next two months. If I achieve this soon, I think I’ll increase my read goal in 25 book increments (so 175, 200) until the year ends!

read 50 BACKLIST TITLES
I’ve actually just checked my spreadsheet (cos it’s been a while) and according to my stats, 45.5% of my reads have been from my backlist (YAY!) which is roughly 55 reads? So that means I’ve achieved this goal! Woo, why does it feel so good crossing anything off a list?! 🥳

COMPLETE THE 2022 POPSUGAR READING CHALLENGE
I’ve been participating in the Popsugar Reading Challenge since I discovered it in 2020 and not once have I completed all the prompts. It’s always so disappointing because I usually get very close and I still never manage to read them before the year ends! 🥲 So far this year I’ve completed 27 prompts which are just over half of the prompts. 23 to go!

FILL IN MY LIBRARY TRACKER (FOR OWNED PHYSICAL & DIGITAL BOOKS)
WELL. Hmm, well, I started strong with this prompt early on in the year and I managed to finish cataloguing a decent chunk of my digital books as registered/recognised by Amazon. These are the titles that appeared on my purchase list back in 2012 when I got my first Kindle but I forgot that it didn’t include gifted books from authors or ARCs. I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU:
If you have your books catalogued, do you count ARCs as part of your digital library catalogue or do you only count purchased/gifted books?
I still haven’t even begun to catalogue my physical books and since I’m now in India and not where my books are in Indonesia, I can’t work on that until I go back—whenever that’ll be. So I guess you can say this goal is having a bit of a *whomp whomp* moment? Heh… 😬
GROW MY BLOG TO 800 FOLLOWERS
I’ve been trying to grow my blog to 800 followers for a little over a year now and I’m kind of really excited that the numbers are finally getting close. I’m now at 787 followers (including email subs) and I can hardly believe I’m 13 followers away from 800?! I’m really hoping that I can at least hit that number by the end of the year. Thanks to everyone who follows and supports my bookish journey! I appreciate you all so, so much! 🥰
start my re-read project (AKA THE “DINIPANDA(RE)READS PROJECT”)

This hasn’t really taken off the way I had planned because life, I guess?! I really thought I’d make a start on it this year because I got really excited to start re-reading a few really popular titles that I remember loving from years ago. I’m still hoping that I can at least re-read one series and that’ll be The Final Empire, Book 1 of Mistborn, which I’ll be buddy reading with Leslie at some point this year.

Did you set any bookish/blogging goals this year? How much progress have you made with your goals? Are you happy with your progress or do you still have a long way to go? Any new goals to add to your list? You got this, friends! 💜

GIRL, YOU ARE SOOOO CLOSE TO 800 FOLLOWERS. I really hope you make it, because you SO deserve it. Stupid question, does the popsugar challenge happen every year, because I might take part in that next year, it sounds super cool!!!

Aah, thanks, Jordyn! I hope I do 😍 And YES! As far as I know, the Popsugar Challenge happens every year (at least it has for the past few years I’ve been participating). FYI, if you do end up joining, they also have a Goodreads group where you can get lots of recs for the prompts and I think group reads and all that as well (if you’re interested). It’s definitely fun and a good challenge!

You are doing great with your goals! I think you will definitely hit 800 soon! I do catalogue my arcs and put them with my digital content. I like to know what I have rated and what I have read. I can’t remember everything I have on my kindle so it helps. 😂

Thanks, Joanna! I hope I do reach 800 soon! 😃 OK, cool, I haven’t been cataloguing my ARCs so far but I think I will from now (or whenever I start cataloguing again lol)! I don’t have a “rated” column in my sheet but I think that’s a great idea too actually!

Yeah I have only been doing my arcs for half a year lol. Anything before that, including my ebooks, haven’t made it yet. 😂

You’re doing great with your goals, Dini! You’re sooooo close to 800 followers! You’ll definitely hit it soon! I catalogue my digital ARCs and have a whole spreadsheet for all books I receive for the blog, but I’m way behind in cataloguing ebooks I’ve bought. I love the spreadsheet – it helps keep me on track! lol

Thanks, Julie! I’m excited to be so close to 800 followers and I hope I can achieve it this year 😍 I do have a separate ARC list but I think I’ll also add those ARCs to my digital catalogue too. I’m so behind and I’m trying not to be intimidated by my ever-expanding list but it’s gotta happen some time, right!? Haha

You are rocking your goals, Dini!! And you’re so close to 800! You’re gonna make it 🥳 I have yet to complete the Popsugar challenge, too, but I’m making a valiant attempt this year. I hope the rest of your reading year rocks 😊

Aww, so sweet! Thank you so much, Nastassja 🥰 After seeing almost everyone respond saying they do catalogue their ARCs, I think I’m gonna do it too 😃

131 books so far? That’s amazing! Great job meeting your backlist goals so early. I’m always telling myself I need to pick up more older reads. Crossing my fingers you get to 800 subs soon. You deserve it. Happy July!

Thanks so much, Alicia! 💜 I didn’t expect to get the backlist one done so soon but keeping better track of what I’m reading this year has definitely helped me see that I’m reading more “old” purchased books rather than new ones. I hope you have an awesome July as well!

I said “wow” multiple times when I read your update. You are doing amazing! Especially with the blog followers and GR challenge. Pop Sugar is a tough challenge, so I commend all your progress there too.

Haha, thanks so much, Sam! 💜 I’m pretty chuffed with the progress I’ve made cos I didn’t actually think I was making that much progress since I don’t check as often as I thought I would 😂 Popsugar IS tough and I always start the year off really optimistic about completing the challenge and then my moody moods getin the way of completing it… Lol!

You’re doing great with your goals. The only goal I set is the Goodreads goal which I am on target to meet. But I think next year I need to set more specific goals, like the number of ARCs, which might help me by holding me more accountable. I’d like that since I have so many books I have bought that I never get a chance to read.

Yay, you are doing GREAT no your goals!! <3So… I don't know.. that's an interesting question. Do we add ARCs to our catalogue? I would think so if you plan on keeping them, right?! I don't know!! haha. I made my goal for goodreads like 50 books, I think. I'm at like 100. I'm hoping to get 150 this year but we will see… I've slowed way down this summer. Yay, YOU ARE SO CLOSE!!! I'm at like 791! I didn't even realize it. OMG.. I would love to get to 800 too. Maybe we should start like a blog follow thread on Twitter?? I feel like those used to be a thing a long time ago but haven't seen any recently. Keep up the awesome work. Can't wait to re-read Mistborn.. should we start that soon? But like a SLOOOOWWW read.. like a few chapters a week or something. IDK. haha

I would only add the ebook arcs if they stay on your ereader. Like most are 60 days only right? Or at least I don’t use anyway to keep them. I know some do. So it would depend on that. If you can always access the arcs I don’t see why they wouldn’t go on your catalogue

Wow, look at you, slaying your goals! You’re SO CLOSE to that 800. No worries, you’ll definitely be able to cross that one off soon, I’m sure of it. 😉 Why wouldn’t 13 more people decide to follow your blog?! I’m also so impressed by how many books you’ve read so far this year. I feel like such a slacker. xD
On the ebooks, I agree with Annemieke. My eARCs stay on my Kindle, so as long as I have this Kindle, they count as a semi-permanent collection. However, I had to switch Kindles several years ago because the one I had was just so outdated, and of course I lost all the eARCs that I’d sent to that one, and there’s no way to resend them. So I guess the real answer depends on the perceived permanence of those eARCs!

I have absolutely no doubt you’ll get to 800 followers by the end of the year, your blog is so amazing! And I’m sorry I can’t answer your question. I don’t read digitally, so I hope you find some answers in the comments from those who do!
