So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Books I Would Hand to Someone Who Claims to Not Like Reading.
I’m going rogue this week because I am the worst at recommending books to people. I’m always terrified to recommend something I love because what if they hate it and never want to listen to a recommendation from me again?! Fair do. So I decided to share the last 10 eBooks I bought that were all 99p! I mean, that’s a steal to me and some of these I’ve been wanting to read for a very long time so I’m happy I snagged them! 😉 I bought them on Amazon UK and they might still be going for 99p so if they’re also on your TBR, and you feel like having a cheeky slightly-less-guilty book shopping spree, I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

Felix ever after
Felix Love has never been in love—and, yes, he’s painfully aware of the irony. He desperately wants to know what it’s like and why it seems so easy for everyone but him to find someone. What’s worse is that, even though he is proud of his identity, Felix also secretly fears that he’s one marginalization too many—Black, queer, and transgender—to ever get his own happily-ever-after. excuse me while i ugly cry
Quinn keeps lists of everything – from the days she’s ugly cried, to “Things That I Would Never Admit Out Loud,” to all the boys she’d like to kiss. Her lists keep her sane. By writing her fears (as well as embarrassing and cringeworthy truths) on paper, she never has to face them in real life. That is, until her journal goes missing… Read more…
IN A HOLIDAZE
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions. But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world—the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe: Please. Show me what will make me happy. Read more…
WINTER’S ORBIT
The Iskat Empire rules its vassal planets through a system of treaties – so when Prince Taam, key figure in a political alliance, is killed, a replacement must be found. His widower, Jainan, is rushed into an arranged marriage with the disreputable aristocrat Kiem, in a bid to keep rising hostilities between two worlds under control.
But Prince Taam’s death may not have been an accident, and when Jainan himself is a suspect, he and Kiem must navigate the perils of the Iskat court, solve a murder, and prevent an interplanetary war…
THE MEMORY POLICE
On an unnamed island off an unnamed coast, objects are disappearing: first hats, then ribbons, birds, roses—until things become much more serious. Most of the island’s inhabitants are oblivious to these changes, while those few imbued with the power to recall the lost objects live in fear of the draconian Memory Police, who are committed to ensuring that what has disappeared remains forgotten. THE HOUSE SWAP
When thirty-somethings Cassie and James find each other on a home swap website, it feels meant to be. City hotshot James needs a bolthole after a relationship goes sour and Cassie needs to leave the comfort of her little island to research her new book.
Soon, James is living in Cassie’s cute but ramshackle beachside cottage, and Cassie’s living in James’s luxurious London apartment. It’s the perfect solution. Read more…
ONE BY ONE
Snow is falling in the exclusive alpine ski resort of Saint Antoine, as the shareholders and directors of Snoop, the hottest new music app, gather for a make or break corporate retreat to decide the future of the company. At stake is a billion-dollar dot com buyout that could make them all millionaires, or leave some of them out in the cold. Read more…
ROCK PAPER SCISSORS
Think you know the person you married? Think again…
Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life. He can’t recognize friends or family, or even his own wife. Read more…
MAIN STREET DEALMAKER
There’s no doubt these opposites attract, but there’s no way there could be any kind of a future for a wedding planner and a divorce attorney…right?
All Sadie Rollins wants for Christmas is a break. Three years ago, she stumbled into her dream job as a wedding planner, but she’s been so bogged down with the minutiae of inn ownership that she can’t even enjoy it. She and her twin sister might have been bequeathed the Starlight Haven Inn, but the bed and breakfast didn’t come with much more than extra-long hours and piles of debt. Read more…
ALWAYS, IN DECEMBER
Josie Morgan never looks forward to December. It’s always a reminder of the life she lost, twenty years ago. Now, she always switches off the radio when Christmas music comes on. She always wants to tear down the tinsel her flatmate insists on pinning up. And she always posts a letter she knows will never be read.
Max Carter never expected to find himself stranded in London just days before Christmas. He never expected it would be so hard to say goodbye to a woman he hardly knows. Then again, he never expected to fall in love. Read more…

What books were part of your most recent purchase(s)? Have you found any great deals? Have you read any of these books or are they on your TBR too?

I actually pre-ordered Main Street Dealmaker (also for 99 cents) even though I’ve never read anything by Walsh. The cover and the synopsis hooked me! 🙂

I feel you. I love giving my opinion on a book, but telling someone to read it is a big step and a LOT of pressure. I adored In a Holidaze. I find CLo books really fun and the family stuff was great too. Always, in December was beautiful but painful. I hope you love all your new books.

Great list, Dini! I keep meaning to try Ruth Ware’s thrillers and One by One looks like the perfect thriller to read curled up by a roaring fire on a cold winter’s night. In a Holidaze sounds so fun, too! I might have to see if the library have it this Christmas…

Such a good point about recommendations–so often I’ll be so excited about something and recommend it, and they’ll hate it, and never trust my taste again haha! (I also just got In a Holidaze on a Kindle discount after wanting to read it since last December–so excited!)

Good idea. Cheap books are always a good recommendation. And I know what you mean about being reluctant to recommend a book. I always try to find out first what they do and don’t like. A lot of the books I love are too long for most people.
Your title “The House Swap” reminds me of a wonderful Christmas movie, “The Holiday” with Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black. If you haven’t seen it, you absolutely must.
Thanks for visiting my TTT which has a lot of my favourite shorter books.
