So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Books I Meant to Read In 2020 but Didn’t Get To (You could take this opportunity to tell us what’s left on your seasonal TBRs from last year. Or books you were super excited about and then you didn’t get to them.)
At the tail end of December, I made a list for the weekly meme, #5OnMyTBR, about five books I planned to read in 2020 but never got around to before the year ended. There are obviously a lot more than five, so I’m glad to highlight even more books this week, but on top of that, these are the backlist books (including 2020 releases) that I want to prioritise this year. I’ve heard pretty much all good things about so many of these titles and I know they made it onto a lot of peoples’ favourites lists, so that makes me even more excited to read them!
While the books I listed in the #5OnMyTBR post are also top priority, I won’t be repeating them here today! On that note, here are ten of the books I didn’t get to read last year but will be prioritised (and for sure READ!) in 2021! 😉🤞🏽

These Violent Delights
House of Earth and Blood
Ayesha at Last
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

Take A Hint, Dani Brown
A Heart So Fierce and Broken
Legendborn
A Deadly Education
The Switch

Have you read any of these titles (or maybe you’ve read all of them)? What backlist books/releases did you not get around to reading in 2020 but want to prioritise in 2021?

I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
My post.

Same here! Everyone has been raving about it and it’s made it onto so many faves lists for 2020. I’m a fan of Schwab’s work so I do hope I like it, too! Thanks for stopping by, Lydia 😊

Great list, Dini! Take a Hint, Dani Brown is so good–I hope you enjoy it–and I really want to read Legendborn and A Deadly Education, too. Sarah J. Maas and V.E. Schwab aren’t usually authors I reach for but I’ve heard so many good things about those books I’m looking forward to trying them when the libraries reopen. 🙂 I hope you love all of these!

I read Aristotles and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I want to read Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid in 2021!

We have such similar taste in books it seems! 🙂
Addie Larue and These Violent Delights are both on my list for this month.
House of Earth and Blood I read last year and it is AMAZING so I really hope you enjoy that when you get around to it, it’s one of my favourites.
Legendborn and Deadly Education I really, really want to read but I just don’t know when I will!

Haha, I know the feeling. There are always just too many books and not enough time! 🙈 I’m really hoping to get to all of these this year though! I hope you also enjoy Addie LaRue and These Violent Delights 😉 Happy reading!

I’ve only read Aristotle and Dante—it was great! But I’ve been hearing so many good things about These Violent Delights. Super intrigued by that one. And I still need to read Take a Hint, as well. I’ll be excited to hear what you think of these. ❤

I’ve heard so many good things about it and I’m kinda embarrassed that it’s STILL on my TBR at this point, Dedra 🙈 What am I even like?! Haha. At the rate I get through books I “want to read”, I’m pretty sure you’ll end up reading Dani Brown before me LOL I can’t wait to hear what you think as well! Happy reading ❤️

So many books that I love on this list, Dini!! We really need to do a buddy read.. The Switch?? I need to read that one so bad and haven’t yet!! Out of the ones I read, I had to DNF Deadly Education.. I really had a hard time getting into that one! It might be her writing style though. You might love it! I hope you get to so many of these this year! <3<3<3

Omg, I’m always up for buddy reads! I’d definitely be keen to do The Switch with you! Let’s do it 😃 I’ll message you on Twitter! Yeah, I saw some people DNF A Deadly Education because of the slow and info-dumping start but… I’ve enjoyed Novik’s other YA titles so I’m hoping it’ll be the same for this? Let’s see though! I think I’ll definitely have to be in the right mood for it 😅

YES!! Okay, sounds great!! This was my first Novik book.. so I’m terrified to pick up anything else by her now!! I’ve seen so many mixed reviews on her others. I’ll have to see what you think about Deadly Education and how different/similar it is to her other stuff!!

I hope you get to read these in 2021 :). Great list!

The Switch wasn’t on my post today, but was definitely one on my 2020 list I didn’t get around to reading. I’ve heard great things about it, too.

Thanks, Joanna! I’m honestly kinda nervous about A Deadly Education but I did enjoy the books I’ve read by Novik so far, so I’m hoping to feel the same about this one 😅

For sure FOR SURE read this year, Dini? Do I need to hold you to this? xD I just finished The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and can confirm it lives up to Schwab’s fabulous writing standards. Also, Dini, you haven’t read Aristotle and Dante yet?! You need to get on that one, chica! It is so freaking fabulous, but will also snap your feels in two and grind them under its heel. And yeah, I definitely need to get to House of Earth and Blood and A Deadly Education, too!

SAMMIE. Why are you calling me out?! 🤣 WHY!? 😭 It’s gonna happen this year, OKAY!? It WILL. I am determined. And OKAY, you can DEFINITELY call me out if 2021 ends and I haven’t read all (or at least the majority?!) of these books. Permission granted! 🙈 (Am I going to regret this?!) I know, I should be ashamed (and I am really) that I haven’t read Ari & Dante yet. I don’t even know why I haven’t picked it up yet because I know I’m going to love it and my feels will be absolutely shattered… Sigh.
Ooh, do you wanna do a buddy read for A Deadly Education? I think it might be good to have some extra motivation/push for that one 🤣 Let me know if you’d be up for that! LOL

Someone has to do it! xD I would for sure not call you out at the end of 2021, mostly because I know you know all the books I haven’t read yet, and turnabout is fair play. So I will be avoiding that mess. *coughs*
YES! Aren’t we supposed to be buddy reading Aurora Rising/Burning, too? You need to message me on Twitter and we need to set up times to do this. xD Otherwise I will 100% forget LOL.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown; Addie LaRue; Legendborn and These Violent Delights are on my list too, Dini! I definitely could’ve include A Heart So Fierce and Broken and Aristotle & Dante too, but if I included all the books I wanted the list would be endless. 😂
From your list, I’ve only read A Deadly Education and House of Earth and Blood, I think you’ll enjoy HoEaB. 🙂

Haha, oh definitely, these are just the top of the list because I can definitely make a list that’s *much* longer than 10 books. I’m kinda glad that we had to restrict ourselves to 10 otherwise I’d definitely feel even more called out 🤣 LOL I hope you manage to get to these books in 2021, Andie! Happy reading 😊

Hope you get to these, Dini! I’d be really curious to see what you think of Addie LaRue. 🙂 I know a few of these are also in my TBR so I have some work to do as well haha.

I’m a little nervous about Addie LaRue tbh cos the hype is freaking real. I do love Schwab though so I think I’ll definitely love it, but… Weirder things have happened! 🤷🏻♀️ I hope you enjoy whichever ones are on your TBR and happy reading, Lisa! 😍
