It’s time for another Top 5 Saturday, a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and this week’s topic is: books with fake love couples. So… I’m assuming this means the fake relationship trope and I’m here for it! By now you know how much I love romance because who doesn’t love the good feels? Romance can be pretty full of tropes and sometimes those tropes get old quick, especially if what you get is the same story over and over again. That said, if I had to pick some of my favorite tropes, fake relationships/dating would definitely be near the top of that list! I mean, yeah it gets pretty predictable but still. THE GOOD FEELS!!! There are plenty of books with this trope on my TBR and here are five of them that I’m hoping to read soon.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
What did I not love about Aiden and Vanessa’s relationship!? I loved seeing their relationship grow into something so strong, real and based off a steady friendship and mutual respect for each other. I’m so glad Aiden stepped up in the end! These two definitely had me swooning, for real 🥰

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
What did I not love about TKQ? I didn’t know how I’d feel initially but I ended up really loving Stella and Michael. I loved the representation and diversity in this book (actually in all of Hoang’s books!). The banter between the characters was sweet, the story was engaging and I was so invested in everyone!

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
I didn’t think I’d enjoy this book as much as I did, but if I said I couldn’t relate to Lara Jean then I’d be lying! This really threw me back to my high school days–oh the drama–but I loved every second of it!

Marriage for One by Ella Maise
While I’m still a little unsure about how I feel regarding the whole motive behind the fake marriage, the slow burn and the steady build up of the relationship was so satisfying to watch. When they *finally* get together for real towards the end, the 🔥 is so off the charts, I can’t even 😂

The Book of Essie by Meghan MacLean Weir
So, this isn’t a romance but it does have a really great fake-relationship scenario in it, so I’m counting it! I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll leave it at that. It’s a pretty dark story but I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to and I’m glad I read this with a group of friends, otherwise I might’ve never done so!

What are some of your favorite books with fake relationships? Are you a fan of this trope? Please share recs — I’d love to add more to my TBR! 😂

I really enjoyed To All The Boys I Loved Before too! I like this trope but I don’t think I’ve read all that many…The Hunger Games trilogy had a really good one though!

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that The Hunger Games had one 🤣 My memory is so shot! But I do love this trope as well and I swear I’ve read more books with it but when I had to think about it for this prompt I almost came up blank 😅

I LOVE LARA JEAN & HER ENTIRE FAMILY! They’re so much fun to hang out with, and of course, those ‘boys’ she loved before aren’t bad to hang out with either. 😀

They’re really so great, aren’t they?! I love how comfortable and close they are with each other. Kitty is also hilarious but I would probably drive myself mental if she was my sister 🤣 Those boys are definitely not bad to hang with, indeed!
