We’re back with another episode of Down the TBR Hole! My TBR currently sits at a whopping 1,005 books, which is the same number I ended this post with last week. I reviewed 10 books again this week but… I’m just gonna be up front here and let you know that I cut ZERO books out this week. NONE. NIL. ZILCH. Because I really want to read all of these books and I’m convinced that I will (eventually) read them all. It’s gonna happen! So all of these are staying 😂

Down the TBR Hole is a weekly book meme created by the wonderful Lia @ Lost in a Story that attempts to organize our ridiculously long Goodreads TBR list by choosing either to keep or eliminate the books we’ve saved on there. Here’s how it works:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go

Verdict: Keep

The Angel’s Game & The Prisoner of Heaven (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books #2 & #3) by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I feel like I should remove the third book from my TBR until I finally read the second book BUT no. The Shadow of the Wind took me completely by surprise and it is one of my all time favorite novels. I’m definitely keep both on my TBR! Lol

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. Family saga, forbidden romance, political drama… Everything about this book sounds like something I’d love so I really want to read it. Plus, I’m always looking to diversify my reads since I’m not

Beauty Is A Wound by Eka Kurniawan. This is Indonesian literature and until now… I’m ashamed to admit that I still haven’t read anything by an Indonesian author. It’s full of magical realism which makes me hesitant… but I do want to read this.

World Without End (Pillars of the Earth #2) by Ken Follett. I love Ken Follet’s Century Trilogy. They are THICK AF but I devoured them all in a few days. Then I got to the Pillars of the Earth series and I was a little disappointed that I didn’t love it as much. I started the second book soon after finishing the first (two years ago?) but I still haven’t finished it. And I’m still determined to not DNF this lol

Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. I’ve heard a lot about Lahiri’s books so I’m quite excited to give this a try.

Cries Unheard: Why Children Kill: The Story of Mary Bell by Gitta Sereny. Okay, this is terrifying but man, I cannot help but be intrigued. I really want to read this!

Through the Window: The Terrifying True Story of Cross-Country Killer Tommy Lynn Sells by Diane Fanning. I love true crime. I will also make sure my hotel windows are locked now! 😅

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt. More true crime and I’m here for it!

Happy Like Murderers by Gordon Burn. Are you getting the picture that I like true crime? Lmao I think these were all added during my true crime spree 🤣

So… We’re still stuck on 1,005 books on that Goodreads TBR. I’m clearly doing well this week 🙃

  1. okay first, I totally didn’t catch that you changed your signature graphic and I love it!

    Two, I have a plan for both of us. We should pick a book for each other to read once a month. If we don’t read it, we have to do a “punishment” (something fun like a ‘top 5 characters I’d want to take shots with’) and if we do, we get some sort of reward!

    • OMG LEELYNN, this plan wouldn’t be a punishment?! I’d love to do a fun post like that 😂 Hahaha but honestly, I love this idea? Let’s do this?! 😍

      Also, thanks lovely! I didn’t make an announcement about it or anything but I’m slowly trying to change things little by little on my blog. Until I decide to do a total revamp of the look 🤣

  2. Lord I saw the cover for garden of good and evil and it smacked me upside the head. When I say a read that book SO DAMN LONG AGO that I could pick it up today and remember nothing? I’m serious.

    • Honestly, I remember picking up this book when I was in middle school or high school and saw it on my parent’s shelf? It’s one they wouldn’t let me read because they thought it was too dark for me LOL but I think I did read parts of it anyway. BUT like you, I remember nothing 🤣 So it’s back on my ‘want-to-read’ pile! LOL

    • I was really hoping to love Pillars of the Earth as much as his Century Trilogy but … I just couldn’t get that into the descriptions of the church’s architecture etc. 😅 I’m definitely still going to try finishing this series though. I’ve invested a lot in it! LOL
