#TopTenTuesday: Fantasy Book Title Generators

It’s that time of the week again, friends! We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: books I’d give different titles to. It seems that this prompt is just too much for my post-holiday dazed brain to take because I’ve completely blanked out. I honestly don’t know that I’d change the title of any of the books I’ve read because I’m pretty terrible at picking or making up titles for anything; but for the most part I also think the titles suit the books.

That said, I wasn’t sure if I was going to do a prompt for this week until I came across Annemieke’s TTT post for today on fantasy book title generators and I loved it, so I decided to hop on board with this one. Thanks for the inspo, Annemieke 💛This was fun to do, especially when I tried to picture what some of the covers would look like and what they’d be about. I chose a mix of adventure and fantasy titles for this list! All titles were generated on: Fantasy Name Generators.

Wives of Hell

Well, okay then. I mean, I’m totally intrigued. Aren’t you? 😂

Animals of the Nation

Hmm… I think I’m curious because animals could be taken literally or metaphorically? Why do I wish a blurb existed for this non-existent book?

Serpents and Mice

Not really sure about this one. It honestly sounds a bit boring and not up my alley…

Vampires of Ice

Hella curious about this. I mean, I don’t normally put vampires and ice together 😅

Spire Without a Conscience

This one had me cracking a bit. Do spires have a conscience? Is this a thing now? Am I misunderstanding the definition of a spire? Haha

Owl of the Lost Ones

Ooh, yes. I’d definitely be picking this one up!

Palace Without Glory

Hmm… Interesting, definitely interesting. (Not really)

Invader with Immortality

I don’t know why but this one has me chuckling. For some reason my brain has also immediately pinged to the song “Immortality” by the BeeGees (lmao) I don’t know if a story about an invader’s unending existence would really be my jam?

Soldier of Stardust

This sounds like a fantasy title with a potentially liberal sprinkling of romance? I’m down 😬

Humans and Criminals

I think I’m mostly curious about how this would be the title of an adventure book!

What do you think of these titles? Did you know these random title generators existed? If you’ve done a TTT for today, please leave your links in the comments so I can mosey over to your blog and check it out! 🙂

  2. I love that you were inspired and jumped on doing it this way. I loved that original post, and I love this one. You have some good ones. I especially like Wives of Hell. I would be tempted to read that book off the title alone.

    My TTT.

  3. Oh, I love Fantasy Name Generator so much! Thanks for reminding me of it — I’ll be trying to challenge myself to write in November so it will be super helpful 🙂

And I love what you did with this prompt! You got some really interesting titles 🙂

  4. OMG I adore this on so many layers I could make a taco dip with enough layers left for a 7 layer cake.

I need to do this tomorrow. When I hit the link you gave and then hit fantasy generator it gives a bunch more choices. Which one did you choose?

  5. YES! I love Annemieke’s post, so I’m totally here for round two here. *rubs palms together* This should be good.

I’d totally read a book called Wives of Hell lol. Starting strong right out of the gate! Serpents and Mice … but hear me out. What if it’s political intrigue with backstabbing and one-upmanship and all sorts of that good stuff?! Would totally pick up Owl of the Lost Ones! Someone should write this.

    • Thanks Jen! SO sorry for the late reply. I’m still trying to get back into the blog groove but it’s actually a lot harder than I expected (I’m really hitting struggle-town lol) 😅

  6. This is fun! Love your take on Spire Without A Conscience, especially. I think I’ll take a crack at what some of these summaries make me think of myself, though I may not strictly align with the given genres.

Wives of Hell: clearly a book about how a sisterhood takes over The Bad Place

Animals of the Nation: Hmm. I can’t stop picturing a high-stakes thriller in a near-future world, where (maybe w/ an assist from Science Development) saving the rapidly escalating number of critically endangered species has become an international big-business industry, so top priority that it’s rife for exploitation in politics, with each country jockeying to cooperate with coordinating rescue efforts while retaining majority control over the greatest number of native species possible.

I’m actually writing out a concept I now realize I wouldn’t even read, AND YET, I can so clearly see a white cover with black block font and stock photos of like, rhinos and wolves (hey, who knows what’s endangered by then) and other creatures around the border, with a man behind a podium facing a crowd in the center, because “animals” will secretly get metaphorical by the end as people devolve in their ambition to seize power.

…this comment is now very long and I should stop but I already thought about the next two and I don’t want them to go to waste.

Palace Without Glory: FANTASY DYSTOPIA. The royal domiciles are no more, neglected and abandoned as the monarchy have been overthrown and dismantled amid widespread chaos. And…things happen? Guess I blew my imagination on that last one after all.

Soldier of Stardust: Sounds like a definitely female-led YA space odyssey. maybe a last-hope-of-her-planet type thing. (but I like your interpretation too)

    • I’m so sorry for the late response but I LOVE THIS! Hahaha I loved that all these titles brought such vivid images to your head just as it did for me too. 100% love your idea for Soldier of Stardust because I think it’d actually be a really fun female-led YA space opera odyssey?! I’d totally read it 😂 And such a great concept for Palace Without Glory too AND Animals of the Nation. Didn’t even think of all of that but that sounds like it’d be a pretty heavy and intense read 🤣Such an awesome comment! Thank you for sharing 💙

  7. Super fun idea for this week, Dini! I just wasn’t sure how to spin this topic or if I could find ten titles I’d like to tweak the book (or movie!) titles for. I probably could have if I thought long enough, but this spin is more fun, and I enjoyed reading your list!! 🙂
