I spent most of my Sunday in bed finishing The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. This is easily a 6-star read and it’ll probably be in my top 5, if not top 3, of the year! I’m honestly blown away by how much I loved it and how emotional it made me in so many different ways. It’s not an easy read but it’s more than worth the work to absorb and understand! Also, the vampire lore was just so freaking cool. I’m so glad I read this with Charlotte as we had a great discussion about it afterwards. I can’t wait to read more by SGJ soon!

I’ll spend the rest of my Sunday in bed reading The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. Charlotte and I started this buddy read today and I think we were both a bit surprised by the style at the beginning! It’s epistolary (in the form of diary entries), which I love, but it’s the use 19th century English that threw me off at first! It wasn’t at all what I expected. Our main character from the Blackfeet tribe also uses a lot of terminology I’m unfamiliar with, so there was a lot to take in! But I’m getting really into it now (kinda wanna binge it) and it’s honestly making me a lottle angry—not at the book itself but the colonizers in it. 😤 I have a great feeling about this one!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night finishing my ARC of Temping Is Hell by Cathy Yardley. I completely overestimated by ability to actually focus this weekend, and I’ve done almost everything but read. 😮‍💨 Don’t know what’s going on with me! But anyway, I’m about 65% in this and things have moved quickly and been kinda intense! I’m a bit sad that this is the first in a new series cos I’m impatient, lol.

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed with The Tropic of Serpents by Marie Brennan. This is the second book in The Memoirs of Lady Trent series and I’m buddy reading it with Charlotte, Veros, and Leslie! 💜 SO excited to be joining their group read because I loved the first book so much and I’m sure I’ll need people to gush to about it as the series goes on, haha. 😂

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night (possibly) reading Strange Pictures by Uketsu. I’m buddy reading this with Charlotte and it’s a pretty quick read with only four chapters. It’s a little bit eerie but not as unsettling as I thought it would be originally. I do have 1.5 chapters to go though so I could just be jinxing myself right now. 🤣 Either way, I’m keen to keep reading!

I spent most of my day in bed catching up on my Katabasis reading. I can’t believe that we’re already done next week! This chunk that we just read was so intense and my brain was overwhelmed by what it had to process. There is so much to digest in this story! 😂

I do need help deciding what I want to read next though. I’m going to keep my non-fiction audiobook for my commute read, but I want a nighttime read and I can’t decide what to pick up. Has anyone read any of these books? Which would you choose to read? ⬇️

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed reading The Wicked Lies of Habren Faire by Anna Fiteni. I’m honestly struggling to really get into it and I’m not 100% sure why. I feel like there’s something about the writing that keeps losing me. I often find myself zoning out which means I’ve read multiple sections multiple times, and I’m making very slow progress. I hope that changes soon!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday in bed reading This Inevitable Ruin by Matt Dinniman. This is the seventh DCC book and Leslie and I are continuing our buddy read of it. It only took me until Ch11 to shed my first tears (but this time happy ones!), lol. This book makes me want to rage against the machine, which is also very apt for everything that’s happening in Indonesia right now. 🙃
