I’ve spent all of my Sunday in bed with The Butcher’s Masquerade by Matt Dinniman. Leslie and I are continuing our buddy read and needless to say, we’re having a blast. This series is so freaking good—and there’s so much more to it than the outrageous covers and outlandish plot. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this series is fast becoming one of my new all-time faves!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed reading The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver. This has been on my TBR for so long now but I finally I picked it up on a whim yesterday. It took me a bit to get into, but I’m surprised by how quickly I’ve gone through the story! It’s an easy but emotional read.

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed reading The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri. This is a re-read buddy read and we’re close to finishing it! The writing is just as sharp, the story as action-packed, and the characters just as compelling (and equally frustrating) as I remember. Such fantastic world-building and so much emotion packed into this book!

I’ll be spending the rest of my night in bed continuing to read A Master of Djinn by P. Djèli Clark. I’ve only read a novella by Clark years ago and I completely forgot how humorous his writing can be. At 30%, I’m enjoying this steampunk mystery set in an alternate Egypt (and world) where magic exists. At times all the world-building can get a bit overwhelming and the pace has been a bit up-and-down, but I’m curious to know what’ll happen next!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday in bed reading finishing Nine Month Contract by Amy Daws. It’s kind of fun and silly but I’m also aware that it won’t be for everyone, especially if you do not want to be reading about surrogacy in a ‘lighthearted’ romance. I’ve enjoyed the slow-burn though!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday in bed reading The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman. This is the third book in The Thursday Murder Club Series and I’m buddy reading it with Leslie. Just a few chapters in and I love how easily I’ve slipped back into this setting and story with these oldies. They’re so wonderful and entertaining—I love them! 💜

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed reading Embrace the Serpent by Sunya Mara. This is an ARC I was excited to receive not only because it sounded amazing + the cover is stunning, but I remember enjoying Mara’s debut years ago and I’m keen to check out another book of hers. I’m just getting started so no thoughts yet!

I’ll be the last few hours of my Sunday night in bed with Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig. Leslie and I are buddy reading this although I admit I’m progressing pretty slowly cos I’ve been too busy to read much, but I’m enjoying it so far!

I’ll spend the rest of my Sunday night in bed reading Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim. This is the next book in the Owlcrate buddy read group with Leslie, Ali, and Julie. I forgot that it’s a Monte Cristo retelling and I love that book so I’m keen to see how faithfully or differently it tells the story. I’m quite behind compared to the others so I have much to catch up on! 🫣

I’ve spent my Sunday in bed with Lights Out by Navessa Allen. This is a dark romance that I’ve been seeing everyone read and love recently and so I wanted to see what the hype was about. I get the appeal and I’m enjoying it a lot, but I wouldn’t say I’m blown away by it. That said, I think it’s the kind of dark romance that’ll still be palatable for many romance readers, even those who don’t normally read this sub-genre. I’m keen to read more!
