Jasmine Allen believes in bad luck, great wine, and the seductive power of a stiletto heel. What she doesnโ€™t believe in is love. Her life is perfect without all that romance rubbishโ€”until a plumbing disaster screws everything up and leaves Jas homeless. Luckily, she has someone to turn to: her best friend Rahul.

For seven years, Rahul Khan has followed three simple rules.
* Donโ€™t touch Jasmine if you can help it.
* Donโ€™t look at her arse in that skirt.
* And donโ€™t everโ€”everโ€”tell her you love her.
He shouldโ€™ve added another rule: Do not, under any circumstances, let Jas move into your house.

Now Rahul is living with the friend he canโ€™t have, and itโ€™s decimating his control. He knows their shared dinners arenโ€™t dates, their late-night kisses are a mistake, and the tenderness in Jasmineโ€™s gaze is only temporary. One wrong word could send his skittish best friend running.
So why is he tempted to risk it all?

This book was previously published as Wanna Bet?.ย The Roommate Risk is a steamy, standalone, diverse romance. This book is 75,000 words of fluff, angst, and extreme pleasure, with NO cliffhangers, NO cheating, and a guaranteed HEA. Please be aware: this story contains themes of parental neglect and abandonment, parental death, and alcohol dependence that could trigger certain audiences.

Book Review: Second Chance Charmer by Brighton Walsh

Goodreads: Second Chance Charmer (Havenbrook #1)

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Finn spent his childhood living so far on the wrong side of the tracks, he couldnโ€™t even see them through his trailer window. When he moves back to his small, southern hometown to open the first bar in a formerly dry county, heโ€™s no longer the boy who leftโ€”heโ€™s a man with something to prove. As long as he doesnโ€™t allow himself to get sidetracked by the only girl heโ€™s ever loved.

Willow learned a long time ago to protect her heart at all costs, so her walls are firmly in place when her ex comes strolling back into town, all cockiness and charm. When they’re thrown together on the job, she knows better than to give in to the tug of attraction that still simmers between them. She might be drawn to him, but she certainly doesn’t trust him. It’s time for her to prove she’s not the brokenhearted girl he left behind.

Thereโ€™s no room for second chances in Havenbrook. And Willowโ€™s daddyโ€”the mayorโ€”will do anything to keep it that way.

Book Spotlight + Excerpt: Towers and Tithes by Christina Bauer

Hello, friends! Today I’m shining a book spotlight on Towers and Tithes by Christina Bauer. This is actually the eighth book in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series but all the books in this series can be read as a standalone!

Goodreads: Towers and Tithes (Fairytales of the Magicorum #8)
Publisher: Monster House Books
Publish Date: 09 November 2021
Genre: YA Paranormal Fantasy, Retellings

Iโ€™m a Tower Tithe with a Rapunzel problem. Thatโ€™s not as weird as it sounds.

Ever wonder how Rapunzel survives without leaving her home? After all, someone must stock groceries, buy hair products and fix the plumbing. Witches donโ€™t wield toilet brushes, so โ€œRapunzel careโ€ becomes the job of Tower Tithes like me. Not that we choose this gig. Weโ€™re just unlucky elves who get magically chucked into servitude. Since our kind live for ages, being a Tower Tithe can drag on for thousands of yearsโ€ฆ and Iโ€™m eighteen. Yipes.

That said, it wouldnโ€™t be too awful if I had a cool Rapunzel. No such luck.

I serve none other than Lady R, the social media sensation and sadist who lives in Manhattanโ€™s famous Apex Towers. With the help of her managerโ€”a witch named Jocastaโ€”Lady R releases daily gossip videos while assigning me โ€œtorture chores.โ€ Many tasks are designed to remind me how Lady R is the gorgeous variety of elf, while Iโ€™m beyond plain. I spend a lot of time scheming my escape.

My work pays off when an eccentric billionaire offers to magically set me free. The catch? I must move to Arizona and become his personal assistant. Needless to say, I rush for the door. Turns out, my new employer is none other than Lady Rโ€™s ex-boyfriend, Dex, a guy who was blinded in a strange accident and has since become a recluse.

In other words, I ran from my fairy tale life, but it found me again anyway.

At this point, I should head for the hills, yet I simply canโ€™t leave Dex. For the first time, I truly feel comfortable around someone. In all honesty, itโ€™s probably because I have self-esteem issues and Dex canโ€™t see my bland face. Even so, itโ€™s all good until Lady R discovers where I am. And that leads to my Rapunzel problem.

With Lady R back in the picture, can I still find my happily ever after? The truth will emerge soon enough.
Because my name is Grayson Eyre, and this is my story.

Ideal for readers who crave a mash-up between Rapunzel andย Jane Eyre.

She thought it was love.

Rose Romanov is a mafia princess, and everything that entails. Violently over-protective parents. A giant extended family, all ready to kill anyone who looks at her wrong. Learning to run a business that isnโ€™t exactly on the right side of the law. So, naturally, when she meets a nice guy who isnโ€™t in the life, she falls hardโ€ฆ Right up until the she discovers her new boyfriend isnโ€™t a civilian at all.

But he betrayed her.

When Dante Verducci was sent on an undercover mission to evaluate the Romanov family for weakness, he never expected to have an instant connection with their unlikely heir. Thereโ€™s something fierce and feral about Rose that calls to him. Theyโ€™re alike, even if theyโ€™re both lying to each other during the months they date. Before he could figure out a new plan, Rose finds out who he really is, dumps him, and immediately enters an engagement with the heir of a rival family. Yeah, no, thatโ€™s not going to work for Dante.

Now heโ€™ll do anything to reclaim her. Even go to war.

CW/TW: Murder, assault, kidnapping, explicit sex, dubious consent, Parental death (drug overdose, historical, off-page)

TL;DR: The Bastard’s Betrayal was a fun and steamy start to a new mafia series. Rose is a bad ass mafia queen and I loved her take charge, don’t-mess-with-this attitude, but I also loved how her softer side came out around Dante. Dante was a whipped hero and I loved how much he loved Rose! ๐Ÿ˜‚ These two had sizzling hot chemistry and those steamy scenes were fire hot! I can’t wait for the next book in the Scandalous Scions series ๐Ÿ˜

There’s no doubt these opposites attract, but there’s no way there could be any kind of a future for a wedding planner and a divorce attorney…right?

All Sadie Rollins wants for Christmas is a break. Three years ago, she stumbled into her dream job as a wedding planner, but she’s been so bogged down with the minutiae of inn ownership that she can’t even enjoy it. She and her twin sister might have been bequeathed the Starlight Haven Inn, but the bed and breakfast didn’t come with much more than extra-long hours and piles of debt.

Cole Donovan was looking for a fresh start when he moved to Havenbrook following the worst kind of betrayal. Instead, his reputation as a cutthroat divorce attorney preceded him–and tainted his introduction to the only woman he’s had eyes for since his own divorce. Too bad she can’t stand him.

When Sadie’s cousin offers her an opportunity to have the inn featured in the country’s leading wedding magazine in exchange for a bit of modeling, she jumps at the chance for some exposure. All she has to do is wear a wedding dress and pretend to be smitten with a stranger for a couple hours. The only trouble is the fake groom is no stranger, and as much as she loathes Cole, her body hasn’t gotten the message. Neither, it seems, has hisโ€ฆ

Mini Romance Reviews: The Kinky & The Steamy

I’ve still been reading an unsurprising number of romances lately because they’ve been the easiest to get into while I’ve been in this fickle reading mood. Some of these have seen me stepping out of my romance comfort zone but for the most part, I had fun with them! Well, except for one and that was a little disappointing cos it’s a pretty hyped title!

Jaclyn Love is a magnet for trouble – it seems to follow her wherever she goes.

Unfortunately for Kadan Davenport, she also seems to be a magnet for him – even after a disastrous first impression that leaves him – literally – black and blue.

Jaclyn is busy trying to find some sort of balance, and Kadan is just trying not to get swept up in the chaos.

In a small city like Blakewood, it’s hard to avoid each other… especially when each additional encounter makes them wonder if they really want to.

“I Think I Might Love You” is a first-in-series novella.

Meet Chloe Sevre. Sheโ€™s a freshman honor student, a leggings-wearing hot girl next door, who also happens to be a psychopath. Her hobbies include yogalates, frat parties, and plotting to kill Will Bachman, a childhood friend who grievously wronged her.

Chloe is one of seven students at her DC-based college who are part of an unusual clinical study for psychopathsโ€”students like herself who lack empathy and canโ€™t comprehend emotions like fear or guilt. The study, led by a renowned psychologist, requires them to wear smart watches that track their moods and movements.

When one of the students in the study is found murdered in the psychology building, a dangerous game of cat and mouse begins, and Chloe goes from hunter to prey. As she races to identify the killer and put her own plan into action, sheโ€™ll be forced to decide if she can trust any of her fellow psychopathsโ€”and everybody knows you should never trust a psychopath.

TL;DR: Never Saw Me Coming was an entertaining, thrilling and fast-paced murder mystery! I enjoyed following the three main character perspectives and thought that they were unique as they’ve all been diagnosed as psychopaths. While I’m sure we’re not meant to find these characters likeable, I still found myself rooting for them to survive and solve the mystery? ๐Ÿ˜‚ From a ‘social’ perspective it was also really interesting to see their interactions, how they viewed each other and the people around them as well!

ARC Review: Intolerable by Darcy Burke

Goodreads: Intolerable (The Phoenix Club #3)

Genre: Historical/Regency Romance

Panda Rating:

Every three years, like clockwork, Ruark Hannigan, Earl of Wexford loses his heart. Alas, he promised his father he wouldnโ€™t marry until the age of thirty so that heโ€™d be certain in his choice. When his best friendโ€™s sister needs him to pose as a potential suitor to garner attention on the Marriage Mart, heโ€™s the perfect candidateโ€”if only he hadnโ€™t kissed her in secret.

Lady Cassandra Westbrook canโ€™t forget the incident between her and Wexford, and sheโ€™s having a devil of a time focusing on finding a husband. The fact that her father intimidates every gentleman has made her quest intolerable, and her two brothers who could help are proving completely worthless. But if she doesnโ€™t settle on someone, her father will arrange an โ€œacceptableโ€ marriage by the end of the Season.

Finally, Cassandra has a chance at courtship, but, frustratingly, itโ€™s not with the impulsive and irresistible Irishman her father detests and she desires. However, when Ruark sees the woman he passionately wantsโ€”despite his better judgmentโ€”swept into the arms of another man, the prospect of losing her becomes intolerable.

TL;DR: Intolerable was another very enjoyable addition to the Phoenix Club series! I was excited for Cass and Ruark’s story after we see a brief interaction between them in the previous book and I wasn’t disappointed by this forbidden older brother’s best friend romance! ๐Ÿ˜ This was a sweet (although sometimes frustrating) love story between two tender-hearted characters. There was cheeky banter, sizzling chemistry and side characters you will also come to love!
