We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is a: Thanksgiving/Thankful Freebie
For this year’s thankful freebie, I’m shining the spotlight on ten books I’m thankful to have read this year. Once I started browsing through my read list, it was surprisingly hard to pick ten… I love when a book makes me glad to be thankful to be a reader because that means I get to experience the wonder of the writing, world, characters, etc. There’s no better feeling! 😍

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones
A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman

Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe
Masquerade by O.O. Sangoyomi
The Long Way to A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
The Sword of Kaigen by M. L. Wang
The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett

What books have you read this year that made you feel thankful to be a reader?

The Tainted Cup looks interesting.

It was so good! 😊
Also, I just wanted to say that I was able to access your blog on Tuesday but I wasn’t able to post a comment. And when I just tried clicking the link you shared now, it says that I’m blocked 🥺 Not quite sure why but it’s been happening for quite a while actually!

I absolutely love A Natural History of Dragons (that whole series is a delight) and A Man Called Ove! And I really need to get around to reading Masquerade this year. Anything by Diana Wynne Jones makes me grateful to be a reader 🙂

I’ve only just read to the second book now but I am enjoying it a lot. It’s very cosy and fantastical and Isabelle is such a wonderful character. Love following her (mis)adventures 🙂 I hope you enjoy Masquerade! I feel like I don’t see anyone talk about that book but I was pleasantly surprised by it (despite it definitely being more historical and light on the fantasy). I hope you enjoy it if you get around to it 🙂

That’s good to know, and actually makes me want to read it more, as I’ve been getting more into historical fiction lately!

I can’t wait to continue with the next book in the series cos The Tainted Cup was just as amazing as everyone said it would be. I hope you love Sword of Kaigen—that one emotionally slayed me! 😅

I know the books by Richard Osman are really well liked, but I’ve never read any. Maybe someday I need to take a closer look (I’ll just add it to the mental list of all the other books I’m curious about! ;D).

There are so many great books out there! I love The Thursday Murder Club series. I’ve got the last one to read (but I am getting it for Christmas so it’s a next year’s read 😂)
Have a great week!

Aah, I hope you love it, Louise! It is so good and I’m shocked by how much I loved it because it’s so outside of my normal reads. That might’ve made me love it even more though 😍

Aw this list is so wholesome, and it’s lovely to have so many books you’re thankful for that it’s hard to pick! Though you did a great job, it’s such a varied list 🖤!

Thanks, Veros! I don’t think my reads are generally this varied but I think that’s why I love this reading year so much. I’m stepping outside of my norm and (clearly) finding wins doing so, hehe 💜

I am so glad to see Ove on here!!! I have loved and adored 7/10 of these and that’s no surprise! I can’t wait to start seeing everyone’s lists. I am going to struggle because I’ve read over 200 books and have so many that I loved and adored. Dungeon Crawler Carl will be on so many lists too!! Yay, for an amazing year of reading!!

Yaah, I’m so glad that I finally read it! 😂 You’ve read soo many books this year—I can’t even imagine choosing from that many. I’m so glad we read DCC together this year and I can’t wait to re-read and continue it next year! 💜 I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see it on multiple lists this year. I think it was a massively great surprise for all of us, lol.

Yes, DCC was such a surprise to everyone, even Matt! I am so excited to jump back into the world and re-read these at a slower pace. I am thinking of annotating this time. I do think it’s going to be on soooo many lists! haha.

Ooh, great list! I still need to read A Natural History of Dragons. And while I enjoyed (loved) The Tainted Cup for some reason I just haven’t gotten around to reading its sequel yet. Hopefully soon!

I wanted to dive straight into the sequel of Tainted Cup but I think I’ll be buddy reading it at some point next year. I can’t wait. I hope we both love it as much as TTC 😍 I also hope you love History of Dragons—it is so good!
