Leslie and I are planning a group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl starting in January 2026! Find more details on Leslie’s page or at the end of this post!
Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Wow, I’m a bit shocked that I’ve only finished one book since last week. I feel like I’m reading constantly throughout the week, even if only for 1 hour or so. But I guess since it’s cos I’m reading a couple of books at once and they’re for longer group reads. That said, it was a great read though!

Song of the Abyss (Deep Waters #2) by Emma Hamm ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed the second book in this series. It’s darker still, with our characters having experienced several traumatic events. We get a bit more backstory for Anya and Daios, although the fated mate/instalove aspect does feel more pronounced as well. I love that they found in each other someone who could appreciate their rough and soft edges, especially for Daios. 💜 He wasn’t great in book one, but I enjoyed his story a lot!

My mood hasn’t gotten any easier to read lately and it doesn’t help that I’ve been feeling more mentally exhausted than usual these days. I do miss the days when I could read and retain so much more! 🫣

- Temping is Hell ⇢ 31% ⇢ I started this on Sunday night when I couldn’t sleep and it ended up being so good, I ended up… Not really sleeping! 😂 I’ve decided to put this on pause right now until the weekend when I can binge it in one sitting cos I know once I pick it up, I’m not gonna wanna put it down until it’s done. So far, it’s hilarious and I’m not dwelling on how the insta attraction is giving “it’s gonna turn into instalove” vibes because I’m really enjoying this absolute romp in Hell.
- The Tropic of Serpents ⇢ 43% ⇢ The world-building seems to be much heavier and more complex in this second book, but I’m still really enjoying it. Isabella is such a wonderful character and I love that Natalie has joined on her adventures. I’m still not sure how I feel about Wilkins but he might grow on me… 👀
- Jade City ⇢ 48% ⇢ This third re-read has been an interesting experience for me. Yes, I’ve forgotten much more than I realised, but all the foreshadowing is bright and clear as day, and it’s shocking to me how I missed it on my second re-read! 🤣 My faves are still my faves, but I’m also seeing things differently now. It honestly makes me a little sad, especially with the things that’ve happened to certain characters so far, but gosh, all of this is further solidifying this book as a life-time favourite for me. I love it so much!
- A Man Called Ove ⇢ 40% ⇢ I haven’t made any progress on this yet as I want to binge it in one go. Let’s hope this weekend calls for it!
- Lady’s Knight ⇢ 6% ⇢ Again, another one with no progress just yet but I’m hoping to pick it up again soon (if my mood allows, lol).

I’m really going with my mood.

Join our group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl in January!
Even before we finished the seventh book in September, we already knew we wanted to do a bigger re-read of the series in the lead up to the eighth book coming out in 2026! We also figured this would be really fun reading in a bigger group, so that’s what we’re doing! We’ll start in January and read roughly 1 book per month to prepare for the release of the next book later in the year! We’re hosting it on instagram so leave a comment below or message me or Leslie on Instagram if you’d like to join.
GET EXCITED, CRAWLERS! 🧨

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

I’m currently reading Adrift! by Elsa Jade. Yes, it does come with that exclamation mark ❗
It was a slow week last week. I only finished 2 books.
1 Illegal Action by Stella Rimington
2 All of Us Murderers by KJ Charles
Not sure what next. Maybe another Pets in Space novella. Whatever, the next few weeks will be low as I’m on holiday

Ooh, Pets in Space sounds like a fun one! What’d you end up thinking of All of Us Murderers? I hope you enjoy whatever you pick up next and have a wonderful holiday, Gill 🙂

When things are meh, mood reading is the way to go.

I’m also struggling a bit with that, like you saw, so between the exhaustion and all the noise going on, it is difficult to focus and get back on track, but you’re actually making progress, it’s just that I think you have more than 1 book going on and some of them are quite long. When you see the progress, you’ll see it in all of them at once.

Is Cathy Yardley the one who also wrote Role Playing? I almost picked that up recently, but went with The Roommate Risk instead (really liked it). Glad you accidentally found yourself enjoying Temping Hell a little too much late at night lol!

Ooh, The Roommate Risk by Talia Hibbert? 👀 I loved that one so much! And yes, Yardley is the one who wrote Role Playing (another fave)! Haha, I’m excited to get back to bingeing temping hell tomorrow 🤭

I really liked The Roommate Risk, too! I’d put it off for so long (as I do with many contemporary romances, honestly) because I’m never sure how much I’ll like a contemporary romance—they’re more hit or miss for me relative to fantasy stories.

Yeah, fair enough. I’m a big Talia Hibbert fan though and her romances always hit a sweet spot for me especially with the mix of banter with the more serious stuff! Glad to hear you really liked it 🙂

It must be hard to feel as though you’re making progress when you are reading multiple books. My brain definitely couldn’t cope with reading 5 books at once. I don’t often have more than one!
Good Luck with finishing a couple of them soon and I hope you enjoy them all.

I finished a book just before bed and picked one on my kindle to read for a few minutes before turning out the light. An hour later, I was still reading. I love when that happens. I hope you get time on the weekend to binge read both books. Enjoy your group read, Dini.
