#WWWWednesday: 4 June 2025

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I managed to finish four books.

Rebel (Women Who Dare #1) by Beverly Jenkins ★★★★☆
If ever I need soothing, I know Bev Jenkins books will give me that. Yes, this history is hard to read and digest at times, but Jenkins never fails to educate me while having me swoon over her tall, dark, handsome, and chivalrous MMCs, and rooting for her brave, sassy, and headstrong FMCs! The Le Veq family is awesome—I can’t wait to read about the other brothers and the women who will bring them to their knees. 💜

The Man Who Died Twice (Thursday Murder Club #2) by Richard Osman ★★★★½
Stories like this make me adore reading about elderly protagonists! The Thursday Murder Club four are hilarious, endearing, and lowkey terrifying (in the best way). I loved reuniting with Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim! 😍 Loved both crimes that we follow and how well justice gets served, especially the case that hits closest to home. I read this with Leslie and I can’t wait to continue this series and see what other shenanigans these oldies get up to next. Whatever it is, I know it’s gonna be a blast!

Lights Out (Into Darkness #1) by Navessa Allen ★★★★☆
While I enjoyed this, I can’t say that it blew me out of the water. That said, it was fun and I can see why it’s super popular. It’s doesn’t tread too deep into the ‘dark’ side, making it palatable enough for those romance readers who don’t normally dip their toes in the dark romance sub-genre. It was funny, oddly endearing, and I really liked both of the MCs! I now completely understand people’s references to the MMC as a golden retriever stalker, and yeah, it fits him perfectly. 😅

Record of A Spaceborn Few (Wayfarers #3) by Becky Chambers ★★★★☆
Ironically, for the space book that centers the humans, I found I connected to this one the least. However, I still really enjoyed seeing how humans have survived since Earth died, and it was comforting and maddening to know that humans, no matter where and when we exist, will always be humans. 😂 My favourite character was Kip—he’s such a good egg! This was another buddy read with Leslie and I’m so proud of us for making steady progress through this awesome series.

  • The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love47% ⇢ I’m making slow progress with this because it has mostly been my nighttime read (and I haven’t been getting much nighttime reading done)! That said, I love how ridiculous and over-the-top these characters and situations are. Everything is liberally slathered in a layer of sarcasm and wit and it’s super entertaining. For such terribly smart people, Devon and Beth are really quite adorable idiots! 🤭
  • Dead Mountain13% ⇢Still haven’t picked this one back up yet. It’ll happen though!

The next Owlcrate buddy read is coming up but otherwise, let’s see where the mood takes me!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  2. I love the variety here, Dini! The Man Who Died Twice was a great read which I awarded the same rating – the elderly characters are great fun. I also really like reading about Connie Johnson, who was introduced in that book.
