#WWWWednesday: 5 March 2025

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve finished 5 books. I got caught up in a Kati Wilde binge and I have no regrets!

Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte ★★☆☆☆
This was the second book that Ali, Julie, Leslie, and I are reading to catch up on our Owlcrate backlist. Unfortunately for all of us, we didn’t end up loving it as much as we hoped. There was so much potential and it fell so flat! I got really frustrated with this one. 🫣

Hellfire Riders MC 1-3 by Kati Wilde
While these erotic romances are mega heavy on the heat, I actually find I’m enjoying the character arcs too. There’s always a tortured hero, a tough heroine, no third acts, and plenty of sexy fun vibes.

The Scorpion and the Night Blossom (The Three Realms #1) by Amélie Wen Zhao ★★★★½
I loved this action-packed fantasy inspired by Chinese mythology. It features demons, immortals, a doomed love/star-crossed lovers romance, and twists to keep you on your toes! My review is out tomorrow.

Quicksilver ⇢ 21%

I’m buddy reading this with Leslie and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m not immediately loving it but I’m trying to be patient and see what happens. The writing is overly descriptive that it feels burdensome to read (could also be my headspace). I’m aware this is probably a very unpopular opinion considering this is one of the most hyped BookTok books since 2024.

Reign of the Talon ⇢ 37%

I haven’t picked this back up since the last time as my mood has kinda moved on from it. My mind feels very spacey these days so I don’t think I’m in the right headspace to absorb major details, lol. I feel like I just need to sit down with this and power through it!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. Oh, great selection of books here, sorry for the Four Dead Queens, but it does sound like you like the rest of the reads. Quicksilver is on my TBR. I have been hearing mixed things about it hopefully, we both will end up loving it. Happy reading 🙂

    • I’ve seen so many 5-star reviews for Quicksilver and that’s actually what made me wary to pick it up in the first place (I’m generally very wary about extremely popular fantasy romances, lol…). I’m trying not to be too negative about it just yet but… I know for sure it won’t be a 5 star. I just hope that my opinion of it improves from where it’s at now! 😂 I hope you enjoy it whenever you decide to pick it up!

  2. I know nothing about Quicksilver apart from the fact that I’ve seen it on the shelf in the bookshop. I’ve decided that it’s not my type of book though based purely on the cover 😃

    • That was initially what I decided about the book too. I’m generally very wary about the extremely popular fantasy romances but it fit perfectly with a reading challenge prompt and now here we are, haha. I hope how I feel about it changes from now though! 🤭

    • Aw, don’t be too hard on yourself, Anna! Sometimes life gets in the way and our plans, no matter how well-planned, fall to the wayside. I hope you end up enjoying it whenever you pick it up though!

Sophie Kim’s books are interesting too. A lot of detail and a little long but fun!
