#WWWWednesday: 8 January 2025

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

My 2025 reading year hasn’t launched like it did in 2024 but I’m not mad about it. Slow and steady has been working for me and I’m enjoying it. Since last week I’ve finished four books.

(ARC) A Language of Dragons by S. F. Williamson ★★★★☆
My first read of 2025! I love the alternate reality where humans and dragons coexist. The language aspect was interesting and I loved the post-WWI setting/code-breaking mission. I had mixed feelings cos of the MC, as she’s the most unlikeable character I’ve read in recent memory! I still think this was a solid debut though and I’m keen to see where the story goes [Check out my review!]

(KU) A Touch Wicked (Private Arrangements #0.5) by Katrina Kendrick ★★★☆☆
I had mixed feelings about this because while it was a fun romp, I wanted more. The mystery of her missing sister felt like an afterthought and shoehorned in and the romance, unfortunately, was very instalove. They hardly spend time together on the page outside of the bedroom to warrant the level of devotion they express. I want to try another book from this series but it won’t be a priority.

(KU) Exit, Pursued by a Baron (The Beaumonts #1) by Aydra Richards ★★★★½
I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did but I shouldn’t be surprised because this author was recommended by b.andherbooks and melonreads. This was PEAK ANGST and I know I said I wasn’t an angst girlie but this book made me reconsider! 🤪 The emotions were taut, the writing fantastic, and the chemistry explosive. This is for all those who love a good grovel cos the MMC grovels for months and the FMC is unrepentant in making him work for it, as she so deserves to. I’ll be continuing this series asap!

(ARC) The Wilde Trials by Mackenzie Reed ★★★★☆
I was pleasantly surprised by this! It’s a fun boarding school mystery romp and while I wouldn’t go in expecting the trials to be death traps, certain moments did set my heart pounding! By the end, it was hard to stop reading cos I needed the answers. I’m chuffed that I got two of the reveals right and it was fun trying to figure out the rest! This would make a great binge-read.

Lady Diana’s Lost Lord ⇢ 2%

I’ve only just begun but I loved the first book and I’m excited to see Diana get her HEA cos she frickin’ deserves it!

I’m really not sure what I feel like reading at the moment. I’ve got a couple of buddy reads that are meant to start in January but not sure when so let’s see!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. Wow, what a start to the year, Dini!! I am so excited to be starting our buddy read in a couple of days! I have seen A Language of Dragons on so many TTT lists yesterday. I am interested, but did see you struggled a bit. I might just wait on that one for now. I hope you have a lovely week! ❤

    • I’m so excited to start it tomorrow! I’ve got the audiobook and my physical copy ready to go! I think I’ll start reading it on the train to work tomorrow morning (although I know I won’t make much progress haha). I really we hope we love this one—it’s been on the TBR for too long! Even though I struggled with the MC in ALD I think I would still recommend it because it was an enjoyable read. I didn’t struggle to get through the writing and the world building and language aspect was interesting. See if you can get it in the library or on audio or something. If you do check it out I hope you enjoy it 🙂 Have a great week too, my dear! 💜

  3. Great post, Dini! I’m excited to see what you think about The Ten Thousand Doors of January. It was my first Alix E. Harrow and had me absolutely hooked on her writing afterwards. I hope you have a great reading week!
