#TopTenTuesday: Top of 2024!

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Best Books I Read in 2024.

I don’t know about you but there are definitely more than 10 (or even 12) books in my best of 2024 list! When it comes down to choosing favourites I always have the most difficult time because my brain decides it loves everything. However, to make choosing a little easier on myself this year, I started a “reads bracket” graph at the beginning of 2024 and I finally completed it today. I do monthly wrap-ups where I identify my monthly favourite(s) but having this visual representation made a big difference in choosing my top reads. Check out my top 12 below!

*Book covers are linked to my review if I’ve posted one

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross
Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert
The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin
Bend Toward the Sun by Jen Devon
The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V.E. Schwab
Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell

Ocean’s Echo by Everina Maxwell
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
Blood Price by Nicole Evans
Mirrored Heavens by Rebecca Roanhorse
Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll
Lunar Boy by Jes & Cin Wibowo

And that it’s for 12 of my top reads of 2024! Did you read any of these books this year and were they also on your favourites list? What were some of your favourite 2024 reads? Happy New Year, everyone! May we all find fantastic reads and discover amazing new worlds in 2025! 🎉

  1. That reading bracket sounds like a cool idea, and I bet it was useful for you when you wrote this post. I would be too indecisive to choose like that.

Looks like Divine Rivals and Addie LaRue dominated your list!

Hope you have an even more amazing 2025!

    • It was SO useful for me when making this post. I’m usually quite indecisive when it comes to choosing favourites but having already identified the top reads of the month with my monthly wrap ups and then having this reading bracket really simplified things for me. Looking forward to doing it again this year 🙂 I hope you have an amazing 2025 as well, Anna!

    • I’ve been meaning to check out JD Robb and Chanel Cleeton for years. I hope to some day 🙂 I love KJ Charles and Death in Spires is on my TBR as well and I can’t wait to read it. Thanks for sharing your favourites!

    • I feel like Bend Toward the Sun is an underrated romance but it was lovely! Beautifully and swoontastically romantic. I hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it! I’m sorry to hear that you were bored by Addie, haha! It’s definitely one of those slower paced books but I just love Schwab so maybe I’ve already got that bias 🤣

      • It was a great trilogy and I was really satisfied with that ending. I kind wish that Roanhorse would keep writing in that world cos I feel like there are so many stories that can still be told!? Fingers crossed she’ll return to it one day (maybe?), lol. Happy new year to you as well! I hope you have an amazing 2025!

  3. Ahhhh Dini, I’m so stoked that Blood Price made it to your top 12, *especially* with some heavy hitters and incredible books on this list! 😭😭😭😭

I hope 2025 is a year of rest, restoration and relaxation for you, given how difficult work was this year. 🖤🖤

  4. I just added Addie Larue to my list of audiobooks to listen to while in Florida. You are the second person who had it on their list. I like that you kept track throughout the year to make it easier to whittle down, Dini. There is no way I can make those decisions.

    Happy New Year!

    • Ooh, I do hope you enjoy it if you get around to reading it, Carla! It was a well done audiobook (I don’t listen to many cos I can be quite picky when it comes to my audiobooks but this one I really enjoyed)! I’m usually always super indecisive but this bracket made my life so much easier by simplifying the choosing process, lol. 🤣 I hope you have a fantastic 2025!

    • They’re both such fantastic books and it was hard to choose between the two but honestly, Addie… Addie and Henry live rent free in my head and are fully stuck in my heart, lol. Will never not recommend both books!

  5. Your bracket is such an obvious fix to this problem and yet I’ve never thought of it myself. You are a genius. I’m stealing this idea for 2025. Thank you for making my life easier.

  6. I love this way of discovering your top read of the year! There are some books on your top 12 that I have always been curious about reading so now I will have to check them out. I would like to read more sci-fi and I have heard good things about Everina Maxwell’s series. I love to see both books included.

I hope you discover lots of great reads in 2025! 🥰

    • Thanks, Sophie! It was so much fun to do this way and made my life so much easier because I’m normally so indecisive! 🤭 I hope you enjoy the books that are still on your TBR from this list. Maxwell’s books were amazing and after I finished Winter’s Orbit I wondered why on earth it took me so long to finally read it cos it was stunning (same goes for the sequel). I hope you enjoy them just as much whenever you get to them. Happy reading and I hope you have an amazing year in 2025! ✨💜

  7. Ok this was such a clever way to showcase your top reads. I’m happy that Addie was the overall winner because I love that book so much, but just looking at some of the books it was up against… you had a great reading year by the looks of it. Here’s to an equally epic 2025.

    • Ugh, Addie and Henry live rent free in my mind and forever in my heart. Seriously, it’s no surprise they took top place, lol. I really enjoyed doing this reading bracket as it made choosing faves so much easier. Don’t know why I never thought to do it before but I’ll defo keep doing it now. Hope we all have an epic 2025! 😍

  8. Love this! I have only read 3 of these but several of these are on my TBR! It has me really excited to read them. I Loved how you were able to pick one!! I am not shocked that it’s Addie 🙂 I hope you have an amazing 2025, Dini!! Much love ❤

    • You know how indecisive I can be but having this reading bracket and monthly faves picked out helped so much! I can’t wait to keep it going in 2025 to make my “choosing” experience much easier, haha. I hope you have an amazing 2025 as well, Leslie! 💜

  9. I’m so happy to see Lenni and Margot on your list of favorites for the year. I still think about the book, and it’s been a couple of years since I read it. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. And I hope you have a fantastic 2025.

  10. Hi! It’s Lori from fiftytwo.blog (which sadly does not exist any longer. Stupid web hosts and their commitment to being paid!)

Anyway, I’m doing a book journal this year that includes these sorts of brackets and I am looking forward to discovering my best 2025 read!

    Happy New Year!

    • Hi Lori! I’m sorry to hear about your blog but I’m so happy to see your comment here 🙂 I hope that you’ve been doing well! Very exciting about your book journal. This bracket was super fun to do and I’m planning to do it again for 2025 as it made choosing favourites so much easier! 🤣 Happy New Year and I hope you have an amazing 2025!

      • I have a new blog, which will not exclusively focus on books, but will have book reviews and things like that. I’m trying for more balance in 2025, so that means that I want to stretch my writing wings a little bit…but I also missed blogging about books, so I will make sure to include that every week as well.

Good to see you are still around! There were a lot of people that I used to follow who aren’t. 😦

        Anyway, I’m at justlori.net these days. 🙂

  11. Ah, I love that you showed a graphic of your bracket! I struggled for so long on how to visually depict mine on wordpress, for some reason making a chart on canva or something didn’t even occur to me, lmao 🤣. I loved Addie La Rue too 🖤!!!

  12. Doing a bracket is a fun idea! I’ve never tried one for my own reading; I’ll have to tuck that idea away for later, haha. I haven’t read any of these but I’d like to pick up Blood Price this year. Happy New Year!
