#WWWWednesday: 6 November 2024

Today is gonna be tough for so many people and I’m so sorry that this has happened (again). As an international viewer watching this all unfold, I’m astounded that it’s actually possible for a convicted felon to be elected President. Sending positivity and courage to all. Have strength! 🫂

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

I finished four books since last week. I’ve enjoyed this past reading week so much!

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin ★★★★½
I was looking for a book to make me cry and this made me cry. For years people have been telling me I’ll love this book and (as usual) they weren’t wrong! My review goes up tomorrow.

Tackled in the Stacks (Love Letters #0.5) by S.J. Tilly ★★★★☆
This prequel novella sets the stage for book one in the series and I really enjoyed it. It’s short but their chemistry was fire and their connection was sweet. It also made me want to read The Count of Monte Cristo even more than before! 😅

Love, Utley (Love Letters #1) by S.J. Tilly ★★★★☆
S.J. Tilly’s books are always a fun time. Despite having spent the last 15 years apart, the connection between Hannah and Maddox was just as, if not even more, potent. Their romance is very instalove but somehow it just works—I could feel how much comfort and peace they bring each other. I also loved the connections Maddox makes with Hannah’s family and how low-drama/low-angst this is.

Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll ★★★★★
I’m so glad to have read this with Becky cos I can’t imagine reading this and not having someone to immediately vent and talk through what we’re reading. There is so much anger in this book and rightfully so! And really, what a time to be reading a book that shows how systemic misogyny and the poor treatment of women truly is. This has completely unexpectedly become one of my top reads of 2024. Highly recommended for fans of true crime/crime fiction.

I haven’t picked up any of the books that I started before and I’m not sure if I’m still in the mood to keep reading them (though I probably should at least continue Sharma’s book cos it’s an overdue ARC). Let’s see if I can even read anything after finishing Bright Young Women cos that’s living rent free in my head right now! 🫣

  • Starling House ⇢ 11% (I’ll be continuing this as a buddy read with Leslie starting tomorrow!)
  • The Letters We Keep ⇢ 11% (I haven’t picked this up since…)
  • The Woods ⇢ 16% (I haven’t picked this up since…)

It’s whatever the mood brings!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever you’re currently reading, friends!

  1. Ahhh Starling house! I love Alix Harrow, but that book is absolutely a favourite of mine. I’m so glad we buddy read Bright Young Women, and like you said, we picked the perfect/worst time depending on how you look at it. I hope you enjoy all your reads 🙂
