Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last week I only finished one book! Oops, I thought I’d read more than that but apparently not, lol.

Mirrored Heavens (Between Earth and Sky #3) by Rebecca Roanhorse ★★★★½
Becky and I loved the finale of this epic fantasy series! Roanhorse had already treated us to incredible world-building throughout the series and that continued further in this, alongside the character development. I loved how all the elements were woven and how everyone’s stories ended. Overall, I thought this was a very satisfying end to this trilogy! 😍

Anatomy ⇢ 59%
This is my buddy read with Leslie. Life has been life-ing so I’ve paused until Leslie can catch up. I’ve mentioned it before but this is much more gruesome than expected but it’s interesting. Curious to see where it goes!

The Crimson Moth ⇢ 23%
I wanted to try and read before the end of October and I’m happy to say I’m making good progress! I’m also enjoying it a lot! Didn’t expect the love triangle vibes though… I hate this trope but it’s not enough to impact my enjoyment of this romance fantasy! The tension is *chefs kiss*! Curious to know though—is this actually YA or is it more NA/Adult? I feel it’s more the latter but not sure how others see it. Would love to know if you’ve read it!

It’s whatever the mood brings!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever you’re currently reading, friends!

Hmm The Crimson Moth sounds interesting! I’ll be curious to see what age group you feel this is targeted towards when you’re done reading it! I have not read it myself. What I’m currently reading.

Have you read Serpent & Dove? It kind of reminds me slightly of the first book in that series (I haven’t read the rest of it). But it also gives me mild The Bridge Kingdom vibes (not sure if you’ve read that romance fantasy either). I’m enjoying it and I’m not overly fussed with the details that would normally bother me more because I’m enjoying the flow, characters and tension enough! I’m currently leaning towards it being lower end NA range or at least on the older end of the YA range. 😅

I have not read Serpent and Dove, actually. Ah okay that’s good to know. And I have been meaning to read The Bridge Kingdom as well! I really need to brush up on a lot of the big Romantasy titles haha. Ah that’s nice, as long as the emotional attachment is there, some of those details don’t matter and that’s totally fine! ♥ Okay thanks for all the additional info on it 😁

Bright Young Women was one of the best books I read this year! Hope you like it

Wow, that is high praise and makes me more excited to check it out asap. Really hoping I can get to it before the end of 2024! 😃

It was darker than I expected but I did really like it!

I was actually wondering how dark it would be considering what the story is based on so I’m not surprised BUT I’m glad that those thoughts are confirmed by what you say, lol.

But it was one good book. That counts for something.

So glad you enjoyed your buddy read of Mirrored Heavens! I am so interested about The Crimson Moth, the concept sounds so interesting, and it says a lot if you don’t typically like love triangles and you enjoy the book regardless. I love when a book has tension in it, so dramatic!
Glad to see you doing well.

It was such a great series! Roanhorse is an incredible storyteller although there are moments I wish her pacing would be better. I’m a huge fan though! 😍 I’m enjoying Crimson Moth so far and it’s honestly quite an easy read to devour. It moves at a smooth pace! Let’s see if I decide to finish it this weekend (my mood has suddenly turned on me lol)

I’m so glad and surprised to hear that about Crimson Moth; I thought it would be a bit hard to get into so I was intimidated.
Maybe try reading from another book first and then continue with it. I get what you mean though. I am hoping to finish one of my reads this weekend as well. We can do it! Good luck!

Hmm… I’m trying to see it from the perspective of someone who doesn’t read a lot of fantasies and I think the world building is quite light but not in a way that makes the story suffer. If you enjoy witchy worlds then I think this could be interesting! It definitely focuses less on the world itself and more on the characters and their goals. I’ve moved on to some monster romances this weekend and I’m enjoying myself immensely! 🤣

I haven’t read many witchy stories so now I am curious, it is great that it so explained so well and that makes it easy on the reader. Even if you are enjoying a book, sometimes you need to move to something else, so I am glad you did that. Have a great weekend!

I enjoyed Mirrored Heavens, Anatomy, and The Crimson Moth. The Crimson Moth is one of the times that a love triangle didn’t really bother me much either. I agree that the tension is written incredibly well in that book. Anatomy is definitely pretty gruesome at times. I was surprised by how much I liked it, though. I just wish I’d enjoyed the sequel as much as the first book. It kind of ruined that duology for me. Mirrored Heavens was a really good conclusion. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope you have a great week ahead and enjoy all of your reads! 🙂

I mean, I don’t like the love triangle but it’s not unbearable and I’m so glad for that cos otherwise I would’ve been tempted to DNF or skim past the love triangle devolving haha 😂 I think Anatomy has felt even more gruesome than anticipated because I didn’t remember what the story was about before I picked it up. I have heard that the conclusion to this book and then the sequel as well were rough and that makes me a little worried… Bummed to hear that it ruined the duo for you! 🥺 I’m glad Mirrored Heavens as least was a great series ender (at least for me, I know a lot of readers were on the fence about it). I could defo read more books set in this world though and I hope that Roanhorse does write more stories set in it!

Gah Love Triangles! I actually passed on Crimson Moth because I wasn’t sure whether I would enjoy it, so I’m looking forward to seeing your thoughts. Hope you enjoy all your reads 🙂

I’m enjoying it actually! The angst of the love triangle is real and of course, the enemies to lovers aspect is interesting. I kind of wish that there was a bit more character/relationship development *but* this is one of those romance fantasy reads that makes me feel less picky because I’m enjoying the overall vibe of it! Let’s see if I can put my thoughts together well after finishing it, lol.

Haha I felt like that with Fourth Wing. It wasn’t the best written but I was there for the vibes alone lol.

Ooh, okay! That book is SO hyped and SO well loved and people go on about how incredible the world-building and character relationships are so it’s kinda refreshing to hear you say this. 😂 I’m still wondering whether I want to read Fourth Wing or not but maybe one day!

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it. It was super fun, and I did like the characters. But was it this big new amazing thing? Not at all. I haven’t read the sequel yet but have heard some mixed things about it.
