Monthly Wrap-Up: September 2024

I’m well aware that there are a little less than two weeks left in October and I’m just now posting my September wrap-up. Better late than never though, right? 🫣

Going into September, I knew it would be a hectic month but I couldn’t have predicted the amount of stress I would endure or the impact it would have on me physically and mentally. It was a lot and I spent the tail end of the month coping with illness as the stress and adrenaline that kept me going throughout was let go all at once. It wasn’t all bad though! I got to watch Wicked on Broadway and I did a whole lot of retail therapy to get things that aren’t available or would cost 2-3 times as much in Indonesia. I know it’s not much but sometimes it is those things that make me feel better when I’m feeling overwhelmed, lol.

While my reading and blogging started strong and I posted more than I thought I initially could, the last two weeks saw me completely disappearing from the blogosphere! I read a total of 3 books and none of them were below 3 stars.

My favourite of the month was blogger friend and author, Nicole’s debut fantasy Blood Price. I’m bummed that I didn’t spend as much time promoting this book last month due to real-life intrusion, but I thought this was a solid fantasy debut! Once again, congratulations on publishing, Nicole! 🎉

Clearly, this month was not a win for the reading challenges. It was also the month we returned to Orilium for the Autumn Equinox semester and that certainly did not work out in my favour. 😂 I’m hoping to see if I can exchange some guild points to buy an extension or something otherwise it’s safe to say that I failed this semester, lol.

And that’s it for September, friends. How was your month? How was your reading? What was your favourite book and moment of the month? I’d love to know! Hope everyone is doing well and taking care 💜

    • Wicked did ease the pain of that. I had actually never heard of the songs or seen anything related to Wicked but I fell completely in love with it. I’m more curious about the movie adaptation now and I hope they do it justice! Lol I unfortunately didn’t visit anywhere aside from NYC as I went there for a work event at our HQ and then had the weekend before flying out early Monday morning. I wanted to go visit my aunt and cousin in Maryland but unfortunately just didn’t have time. I think I’d much prefer doing a leisure trip to the US vs. a work + leisure trip haha

      • I’m in the same boat (or was) with you about Wicked. Even though it was super popular when I was in high school, I never cared enough about it to even listen to the soundtrack. But I am excited about the movie adaptation and will probably drag myself to the theatre for it. 🙂

Ah, ok, yay work trips! Well, at least you had some fun on Broadway!

  1. From your newests posts I gather everything is going better, or at least I hope it is! Do all the retail therapy you need, you deserve it! And I am sure Wicked was worth it!

I hope you have an incredible October to make up for September!

  2. I seriously hope you have a better month upcoming, Dini, and you’ve been able to recover from all the stress! 🖤 I’m so, so honored you read and enjoyed my book and no worries on not having the bandwidth to promote on launch day. Take care of you first, always!!!

    • Thanks so much for understanding, Nicole. I’m still bummed I didn’t do much promo but I’m so glad that I got to be part of the blog tour and that I got to read your book early. I’m already looking forward to re-reading it again sometime! 😍 I’m so glad that you had a wonderful launch though—you absolutely deserve it! 💜

      • Omg of course I understand! The fact you even wanted to do promo for the launch means so much to me (and that you were part of the tour and you loved the book and just your support in general). It means so, so much to me! 🖤

  3. Stressful months are the worst, but seeing Wicked on broadway is pretty cool… that’s an all time favourite musical of mine and I love watching it live. I don’t think I’ve heard of Blood Price before, but I will absolutely be going to check it out now… Hope you’re having a great October 🙂

    • Stressful months really are the worst. I’m so glad October has been better and I hope it stays that way until the end of the year 😆 I can’t believe I knew close to nothing about Wicked before I went to see the Broadway but I’m so glad I did because *LOVE*. I’m still gutted I didn’t get to see Hadestown but all the more reason to make it to somewhere it’s showing so I can tick that off my bucket list! Now that I think about it, I think you’d really enjoy Blood Price (and if you do pick it up, I hope I’m right, lol)! I hope October is treating you well too, Becky!
