#WWWWednesday: 28 August 2024

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve finished 3 books. It’s been a slow but steady reading week.

Immortal Dark (Immortal Dark Trilogy #1) by Tigest Girma ★★★★½
I’m so glad I ended up loving this 2024 debut! The dark academia gothic vibes are immaculate and it’s an angsty, emotional and intensely dark read with one of the most morally grey characters I’ve ever read. Kidan and Susenyos are fascinating and I can’t wait to see where this story goes next! Full review coming soon.

Deceived by the Gargoyles (Monstrous Matches #2) by Lillian Lark ★★★☆☆
This was a fun paranormal romance featuring a poly relationship, gargoyles, and a plus-sized FMC. I don’t read monster romance often and this had a trope well outside my comfort zone. 😅 But their relationship was playful, very sexy and equally angsty! I liked how all three gargoyles complemented each other and how Grace added to their trio.

Are You Nobody Too? by Tina Cane ★★★½
An interesting MG contemporary novel in verse that explores topics of identity, belonging, and the impact of the pandemic on young teens. I haven’t read any MG books that touch upon the latter topic and I liked how the author explored it through Emily’s lens. A unique read!

A Girl Like Her ⇢ 24%

I need something light after three emotionally intense reads. Although this touches on heavier subjects, Hibbert never steers me wrong and I’m already loving the banter in this!

The Book That Wouldn’t Burn ⇢ 47%

Now that I’ve finished more ARCs, I’m returning to this book. It’s taking ages to read it—and I think it’ll take me more than a month to finish—but I’m still enjoying it. I think we’re reaching a big turning point and I’m keen to see what happens!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

  1. There are so many books on here that I have not heard of!! I really miss being so informed on books. I’m hoping that when things settle down, I’ll have more time for blogging and reading with Ollie in school! I hope you have a lovely week, Dini! ❤

  2. Ahhh I am just about to wrap up book four in the Monstrous Matches series! Throughout the series, it definitely had some tropes that weren’t exactly my cup of tea, either, but each book has had elements I’ve enjoyed, too!
