📖 SYNOPSIS
The rules were simple… Keep my hands off his daughter and stay out of trouble. But now I’m stuck with her… And there’s only one bed… Oh well, rules are made — to be broken… aren’t they?
I’m the face of professional bull riding — the golden boy.
Or at least I was, until it all blew up in my face.
Now my agent says I have to clean up my image, so I’m stuck with his ball-busting daughter for the rest of the season as my “full-time supervision.”
But I don’t need a goddamn babysitter —
especially one with skin-tight jeans, a sexy smirk,
and a mouth she can’t stop running.
A mouth I just can’t stop thinking about…
Because Summer isn’t just another conquest.
She sees the man behind the mask, and she doesn’t run—she pulls me closer, even when she shouldn’t.
She says this means nothing—but I say this means everything.
She says there are boundaries we shouldn’t cross.
That my reputation can’t take any more hits — and neither can her damaged heart.
I say I’m going to steal it anyway.

TL;DR: I can see why this is such a popular romance. I enjoyed their hate-to-love dynamic and how they got to know each other. Despite moments in the end when both characters irritated me with their decisions and drama, Summer and Rhett complemented each other well. This was a lot steamier than I expected but overall, a fun small-town cowboy romance!
I don’t recall having read a romance set in Canada before nor have I read one about bull riding and the rodeo (cowboys, woo!) so that was fun. I liked the small town setting and the glimpses we get of Rhett’s family but I loved Summer’s relationship with her father, Kip, and how they had more of a friendship rather than a traditional father-daughter relationship. The addition of text message exchanges between Summer and Kip, as well as Rhett and Kip, as his agent, set the tone well for each chapter and added a levity that usually had me chuckling.
The romance was fun and while I wouldn’t call it enemies-to-lovers there were strong “hate” vibes when Summer is formally assigned as Rhett’s “babysitter”. They had great chemistry, their banter was on-point and yes, things get pretty steamy! 🥵 The more they broke through each other’s walls, the more they connected and the more I rooted for them to find happiness because I thought they were a good match.
What had me on the fence was the conflict because I didn’t like how it was handled. They both reacted so negatively and it became this massive drama that felt unnecessary. I also understood the parts of their lives that shaped their reactions but aside from addressing Summer’s toxic relationship with her family members, I don’t think Rhett’s issues were properly addressed. He had mommy issues that needed serious unpacking! 😅 I also strongly disliked how Rhett’s siblings treated him as it felt unnecessarily rude, not to mention how irritating it was when his dad made lame excuses to avoid supporting his son. I wish Rhett stood up for himself and that his family was more supportive!
Other than that though, it was a pretty fun read and I’m excited to check out the rest of this series.

Have you read Flawless or is it on your TBR?

I can say that I have not read many romances involving bull riding. I can think of one (by Erin Hahn and it was YA). I kind of like when I go into a world I know little about. I don’t know what they did, but I want to hate Rhett’s siblings along with you.

Never have I before I decided to dip my toes in cowboy romances and have now read three with bull riding! 😂 It’s a terrifying sport but it’s amazing to see how they do it! I just don’t like sibling relationships where they’re unsupportive of something that means so much to the MC but are otherwise supportive and friendly, etc. It stands in such contrast to their supposed “close” relationship. I don’t know lol
