#WWWWednesday: 14 August 2024

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve finished 4 books. I’m still definitely on that romance kick!

Craving the Heveians Series by Ella Blake
There’s an intergalactic war ongoing in these books and I’m still enjoying the balance of action and romance. For books so short, they sometimes feel long but they’re great for passing the time! I enjoyed The Alien’s Escape more out of these two.

Flawless (Chestnut Springs #1) by Elsie Silver ★★★★☆
I forgot I’d already read this, but this was an enjoyable re-read. Most of what I thought about it in my first read stands but I feel less intensely about the third-act now. I do still think Rhett has mommy issues to work out though! 😂

Heartless (Chestnut Springs #2) by Elsie Silver
I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did but Cade, Willa and Luke made the cutest and sweetest family. I’m surprised I liked Cade as much as I did because he was not my favourite in book one but Willa really helped him loosen up! Luke was precocious and precious and I loved this kid! 😍

I’m still very much on a romance kick but I’m slowly working my way through these two chonky fantasy books at the minute and enjoying both a lot!

The Book That Wouldn’t Burn ⇢ 36%

I haven’t picked this up in a while but I’ve made more progress since last week. The complex worldbuilding still confuses me at times but things are slowly coming together. I also like these characters a lot!

Black Sun ⇢ 45%

I started this buddy read with Becky on Monday and I’m a bit behind (as usual, lol sorry Becky!) but I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s intense, and there’s a lot to unravel but true to Roanhorse’s talent, the world-building is amazing and the characters are compelling. I hate that I can’t stay home reading cos I want to devour this!

My mood has been funky lately so other than the ARCs, let’s see!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

  1. I had some trouble following The Book That Wouldn’t Burn, too. It was a lot to digest, but I did end up enjoying it a lot. I haven’t managed to get to the sequel yet, but I’m looking forward to it.

I’m glad to see you are enjoying Black Sun. I loved the world-building in that book so much, and the characters are all incredibly interesting. I can’t wait to see what you think of the rest of the trilogy.

    • Oh, I’m glad to know that it’s not just me. None of the reviews I’ve skimmed mentioned difficulties in following along with the world building so I was feeling hecka dumb 😂 Haha I’m looking forward to getting back to it soon. Black Sun was amazing! I loved the world building and characters! I can’t wait to continue the series next month 😍

    • I really enjoyed Heartless more than I expected to! Especially with how Flawless made me feel about Cade 😂 But Willa is awesome and little Luke was ADORABLE! 😍 It’s *a lot* steamier than book one though, lol but I hope you still enjoy it!
