Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [161]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday in bed with A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet. I saw Sil reading this and was intrigued enough to pick it up cos it’s been a minute since I read a romantasy. That said, I know very little about this book and don’t have any expectations other than what’ll hopefully be a good time!

📖 SYNOPSIS

KINGDOMS WILL RISE AND FALL FOR HER…

Cat Fisa isn’t who she pretends to be. She’s perfectly content disguised as a soothsayer in a traveling circus, avoiding the destiny the Gods—and her dangerous family—have saddled her with. As far as she’s concerned, the magic humming within her blood can live and die with her. She won’t be anyone’s pawn.

But then she locks eyes with an ambitious warlord from the magic-deprived south and her illusion of safety is shattered forever.

Griffin knows Cat is the Kingmaker—the woman able to divine truth through lies—and he wants her to be a powerful weapon for his newly conquered realm. Kidnapping her off the street is simple enough, but keeping her by his side is infuriatingly tough. Cat fights him at every turn, showing a ferocity of spirit that burns hot…and leaves him desperate for more. But can he ever hope to prove to his once-captive that he wants her there by his side as his equal, his companion—and maybe someday, his Queen?

This week was much better than the previous week—thank you to everyone who messaged and commiserated about being an introvert recovering from too much social exposure! 😂 I guess I’m slowly getting used to regularly commuting and thankfully, things have been much less stressful. I’m also getting to know my colleagues a little more every day and I’ve had lunch with a few different groups, which has helped them open up more with me. Although they’re intimidatingly smart, they’re good people and have really made an effort to make me feel part of the team! It’s always a little nerve-wracking starting a new job and joining a team that’s so close-knit but I’m so glad that they’ve been welcoming! 😊

I haven’t been reading all that much this week although I did get through two ARCs. I finished my Babel chapters today and holy granola, this book! It’s ridiculous (in a good way) and amazing and wow—just, wow! Next week covers the final chapters of the book and I don’t even know where the story is going to go now.

ICYMI, here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

midnights (3am edition) – the whole TS album because i can’t choose one favourite track!

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and that you have a great week ahead! Take care of yourselves and of each other, friends 🖤

  2. I’m glad you’re enjoying Babel. I don’t think you are ready for the ending. Lol. It went places I didn’t expect and was so ridiculously good. Also, how did I not know there was a special edition of Midnights with all those extra songs!!! I’ve been playing the album on repeat since Friday, and I guess I’ll have to switch to Spotify for my listening… 😊

    • Aaaah, Chris! Your comment has me so nervous for the ending now!!! 😂 Honestly, I don’t think I could’ve anticipated anything that happened in this book so far so I’m not surprised if this ending will cause brain explosions! 🤯 And YES! It took a while for me to actually find this 3am version, I only found it because I was looking at the lyrics and noticed the extra songs and realised the album I was listening to didn’t have those 😂 I’ve been listening on repeat too! I hope you have an awesome week ahead 😊

    • Omg, every single time I pick this book up I get overwhelmed by the thought of writing a review for it because I don’t even know where to begin??? There’s just SO MUCH and so I shove that thought to the back of my brain even though I’m now down to the final chapters and the time to write is creeping up real quick 😂 I wish you luck in figuring out how to write a review for it too, Mani!! We got this!! LOL

  4. It is hard starting a new job, but you are doing great! And obviously you are super smart too or you would not be working with them. I swear, every time TSwift drops an album, I feel like the only non-fan in the world.

    • Omg, things are so tense and part of me feels as numb as our characters feel? But also, welp, I wish I could say that I think there’s gonna be a HEA here 😂 I’m so curious to see how this book ends! I hope you have a great week ahead, Julie!
