#TopTenTuesday: 10 Favourite Books Set in School!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is: a School Freebie (In honour of school starting up soon, come up with a topic that somehow ties to school/education. The book could be set at school/college, characters could be teachers, books with school supplies on the cover, nonfiction titles, books that taught you something or how to do something, your favourite required reading in school, books you think should be required reading, your favourite banned books, etc.)

I wasn’t feeling overly inspired by the school freebie this week so I decided to keep things simple and look at ten favourite reads that are set in school! This could be magical schools or regular human schools (lol) and there’s a good mix of genres, including one adult romance (don’t worry it’s a teacher-teacher relationship), YA mysteries and contemporaries and MG fantasies. Long story short though: I really enjoyed all of these books and highly recommend them!

Teach Me by Olivia Dade
With the Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo
One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman
Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli
Kind of Sort of Fine by Spencer Hall

Do you enjoy reading books set in schools? What are some of your favourite books that have a school setting? Have you read and enjoyed any of these?

      • Yeah, I didn’t do much blog hopping but replying to comments from the last week. I always go to blogs that comment, so I did do that. I haven’t touched my “reader” and gone through those in a couple weeks. Feel so bad! Going to try today though! lol Yay, I’m so excited for you!! I hope you enjoy your last week there! ❤

    • TPW is definitely dark and gory and not for everyone so I can totally understand. There’s something about McManus’ mysteries that I just really enjoy and I’m a fan of all her books 😂 Glad to hear you enjoyed AGGGTM cos that is definitely one of the best YA thrillers I’ve read in a while!

      • I’m glad so many people love it, like you said, it’s just not for everyone, I thought I had a fairly high tolerance for gruesome content, but that book definitely passed my threshold. That’s great though, I have a friend who also really loves her books, I just didn’t connect with One of Us Is Lying and when that happens, I rarely tend to check out more work from the same author. Yes, AGGGTM was brilliant, did you see that Holly Jackson just announced that it’s going to be a TV series?

    • It’s a slow burn and quite dark especially towards the end but it’s SO good! I hope you enjoy it whenever you pick it up 😃 Also, yeah, haha, there are always soo many new books to add to my lists every week it’s impossible to keep up! 😂
